So we had to call sony and they sent out a tech to repair my keyboard, he did his thing, i was able to use the laptop for about a half hour,i shut it down adn when i strated it up, BAM the keyboard no longer worked. To me, since it was failed out of the box, i tyhink sony or Amazon should replace it. But that isnt the case sadly, sony said they can send someone out again and try to replace the motherboard or Amazon will refund us and we can use that towards a new computer. Ugh im so frustrated but I really want this laptop. I want one that works. Too much to ask? I dont think so.

This is a great computer, for a great price, if you don't mind spend 15 minutes of you time unistalling all the toshiba advertising.

Also one of the dvd drivers, stop working, but that was easily fix by goin to toshiba.com and download the driver, or simply run it from the CD of recovery.

I don't have any problems whit vista, you just have to download all the actualizations, and whit time you get used to.

Besides that, is a great computer, and toshiba has a great custumer services support in almost every country.

This is an exceptional laptop though it does run hot on your lap so I got a laptop cooler just so it lifts it off my lap with circulation underneath and it keeps it cool enough so it doesn't shut down without using the usb fan which is great because I don't want to be listening to a usb fan when I'm working.

The first laptop I purchased at costco would crash when it got too hot because I had it directly on my lap without much circulation.

The laptop I have now with the cooler doesn't ever crash.

Another benefit that hasn't been mentioned is that there is room for 2 hard drives in the chassis. I put in another 250 gb laptop which is great since I am an avid photographer.

My laptop arrived with obvious signs of use, a non-functioning AC adapter, and no frills whatsoever... such as installation disks or user manuals. All you get is the laptop and a power cable (that didn't work, in my case). It was cheap, though.

After 5 years of lugging around a Dell D600 (14", about 5.5 lbs.), my primary concern in choosing a new laptop was ultraportability. I seriously considered one of the new netbooks (like the Asus Eee) until I came to my senses. I need a real computer. I liked the Dell, but I travel a lot, and after years of loading up the hard drive, upgrading programs, etc., it was getting really slow.

Great laptop GREAT PRICE! But lame OS, it should work best with Xp, but this pc is built for Vista, didn't find all its drivers for Xp, hope to find the driver soon


and yes the quick launch bottoms freeze the computer for several seconds

I purchased this laptop because of the style, the sony brand, and I was impressed with my families vaio's, and i'm very pleased I did! One thing to start with is the price, it is very good and competitive (I did look around) also the screen looks so bright and the picture is fantastic. I have grown ever fond of sony in the past couple of years but only recently have I been this happy with them. Everything I have ever bought with the name sony on it has lived up to my ever growing expectations, this laptop is no exception. If you are looking around for a laptop I would advise to give sony's modles a look, they have such style and class in there design, and are packed with features and nice layouts. This is a great laptop, I am happy I bought it.

*Update 11/10/08 - Still love this notebook. The only other thing I would mention is that sometimes the cursor "slips" so that you end up typing in a completely different spot or accidently delete a whole paragraph. Very annoying, but still love the notebook anyway!*

First of all the MSI Wind is amazing! It's not too small or too heavy. I can even hold it in one hand easily! I installed Ubuntu Linux on it without booting in Windows at all, and just about everything works out of the box.

I was worried that the Atom processor wouldn't be powerful enough. I was DEAD wrong. Even with 1 gig of memory (I upgraded to 2 gig after installing another gig of memory), it can have multiple tabs in Firefox, several open office documents, ... Read More:

Pros:
Screen- 18.4", Full HD, 1920 by 1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio. Biggest screen I have ever had (or seen) on a laptop.

Photographer's Laptop- Built in compact flash port, runs Adobe Lightroom 2 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 quite quickly, screen makes photos look really good and makes editing easy, included Roxio CD/DVD burning software that makes it easy to to put finished photos on a disk

Powerful system for the price- 4 Gigs of Ram, 320 GB Hard Drive. I have looked at systems with faster Dual Core processors and higher rpm hard drives- at twice the price of this system. I have not found this computer lacking in power in any way.
