Bought this little beauty and have had it about 3 days, and I have to say I absolutely love it. Compared to many of the other netbooks I've tried out (ASUS, Acer, etc), this one is so sturdy and has such a nice fit and finish. The screen is bright and vibrant. If you're thinking about this netbook versus another, pick this one! You will not be dissapointed.

I travel a lot and need to maintain productivity on the road. I need speed, disk capacity and a high res display. This machine has all that, plus entertainment features like HDMI output that let me play Blu-Ray movies on a hotel LCD TV (just make sure and carry an HDMI cable with you). I used to carry an HDX dragon with a 20" screen. I like the extra size on the screen, but this HDX18 weighs half as much and fits into any standard 17" screen case -- which the Dragon does not. The NVIDIA 9600M GT display adapter is not nearly as fast as the HDX Dragon's 8800M GTS but is fast enough for all but hard core gamers.

I ordered a 2G surf to take with me while traveling. I was so excited about getting a small, lightweight, easy to carry little computer! The package got here, I opened it and set it up right away and then when I turned it on and the screen for the license agreement came up, I couldn't do anything - the touchpad wouldn't work at all.

I tried restarting, I called the ASUS support number, they had me press the reset button and start it up, press F9 to get back to the factory install settings, etc. But nothing worked. A couple times when trying to type 'yes' to reboot - the keyboard wouldn't work either. I need it soon for a trip - they wanted me to send it back to them to CA with one day shipping and then they said they would send ... Read More:

I purchased this product for purposes of reviewing the product from a forensic perspective. Interesting, thing happened on the way to doing a standard setup. the wireless on the machine did not work, obviously HP thought that they would have no failures because their staff is incapabable of troubleshooting the product over the phone. they barely recognize it is their product. If are not experienced with hardware and software I do not recommend this product!

A reasonable compact laptop, with a limited memory and storage, just right for a schoolkid like my nephew to take his work to and from school. nice and light weight.It does the job efficienly, no frills.

Review after using this since September. My model is slightly different and I use high resolution version.

There are some positives and negative.

Positives

Light but powerful

This PC is very light, but it does not sacrifice its processing power. Intel's latest 45nm P9500 works great. Even somewhat heavy graphic applications or encoding-decoding of files can work fast. Heat is also well controlled probably due to the benefit of the P9500 and the combination of internal system design and the air flow structure inside, which is typically the strong part of Sony that is very good at designing smaller consumer electronics.
