What a great little eye to have. I had a cimilar one, but I broke it. I payed twice what I payed for this one, through Amazon. It's light, not bulky, and has great features like: lots of zoom for distance shots [of wild animals], hours of recording capability, and lets you load-up on still shots separately, on an SD card- woh!

This is my first time that I bought a Sony Camcorder and just I can say it is great, its compact ( it is the same size of my hand ) and its working splendid...I can recommend again and again.
The only thing that I forgot to buy for my Sony DCR-SR45 was the Sony memory stick pro duo 16 GB by Usd$97.00 here in Amazon.

Don't be fooled by some of these other reviews. People just need to realize that your computer from 2004 just does not cut it anymore. I have a circa 2007 HP slimline computer and everything was 100% compatible. I took the HDSC card out of the camera...plugged it directly into the computer and it played instantly on my Windows Media Player. The zoom is great. Battery life is as expected. The size is perfect for travel. I recommend this item to anyone. As always, Amazon had great pricing and if you are not a Prime member yet...have your head examined!!! I paid $3 and it was here the next day!

I bought the SR-11 here from Amazon. Got it in time to head straight to my son's basketball game literally right out of the box (I had bought an extra battery that was fully charged).

Programed the date/time, no prob. Then just started shooting the game (My son scored 31 pts..and we won!) I recorded in the HD just so I could see what it was like (plus it was by default set on that). Got home found the cables and plugged into the HD TV and it looked fantastic. Played back fine.

Then for the next test- iMovie and Final Cut Express... It mounted for iMovie and I was able to bring in the footage. I made a 25 minute highlights show. Went fine. At one point, had a little glitch when in the editing area the filmstrips weren't visiable, ... Read More:

I am rating this a 2 only because you HAVE TO use the lousy software that comes with it.I would like to say that J. Henry said all that was going through my head. I don't have the patience for this...if I could just convince my hubby to try the comparable Sony we were looking at....it just didn't seem to be as user friendly....that might be something I can learn to deal with and overcome! Great Camera, lousy software and no way around it!

I've had my SR12 for about a month now. It's a wonderful video camera with amazing HD picture quality.
I just shot a friend's daughter's wedding (for free - for fun) and he said it looked like it was done by a professional. Some of the darker dance floor scenes were a bit troublesome (slightly grainy/out of focus at times - most of it was great!) - everything was shot on full automatic mode with no light settings/adjustments - I'm still learning what this camera can/can't do).
It's still a great piece of technology. I shot many of my son's high-school outdoor soccer games - both daylight and at night under the lights - came out PERFECT! And WOW is it great just playing back on my HD TV. Amazing.

good all the way. best for use as a camcorder. sill pics are hard to get but i need video not pics so it is a good buy for me. easy to use. i will buy again if something happens to this one.

I purchased this model a few weeks ago and have been using it as I can. The one thing I'd read alot about was the viewfinder LCD screen can be hard to see out in the bright daylight and that is very true with it. It made the LCD Screen be just like a mirror. All I could see was my reflection. I emailed Sony and they suggested the back light should be turned on then. I haven't had another situation like that since so I'm anxious to try that and see if its any better. I did have one day that it was a little tough to see the viewfinder and I found that shading my eyes helped me see it better. I think video quality is very good. I tried the night setting and yes it might make things a bit greenish, but you can see so well. I would not recommend using it to take still ... Read More:
