I am very happy with this flash. Very bright when needed does what it suppose to do. I am not a professional photograher but don't have to be to use this flash works on my S9 as well as my XSi with no hesitation. Reasonably priced highly recommend especially if you aren't wanting to sink the money into the 580 EX.

I needed a flash to do a friends wedding knowing that I would be shooting with a very bright background (Lake and Sunset). After research and research for the dollar the sb-600 was the unit to have for my purpose.
It work flawlessly the only errors were me not trusting what it was doing.
I felt at first it was giving me too much fillin flash effect so I limited the amount of light with filtering etc. I was wrong the flash was right. Thank goodess for bracketing exposures.
Recommend this unit to anyone! Way to go Nikon..... HAve a look for yourself

I received this flash as part of a kit. I tried out this flash with my Nikon D200 camera and found that the capabilities were all encompasing for macro shots and regular shots and allows for a lot of adjustments in between conditions. The flash display does very well for me and for those who use a camera that is compatible, then I would buy one and really enjoy yourselves.

I was expecting more after reading the reviews here. The piece deflects the flash back too much, so if your eye isn't deep into the viewfinder, you get a nice bright flash in your eyeball. The item does not do a great job at spreading the light throughout the entire frame. It does soften the light, but the light's still concentrated to a certain area. I guess I'm just spoiled by an external flash.

The performance of this unit is OK for a middle-size room.
Had been a Minolta user from the SLR film day and familiar with this special flash mount, but now (maybe due to my worse eyesight?) sometimes I found myself struggled trying to put this flash unit on my A300 (!) while I put the Nikon SB600 flash on my D50 much faster, surprised ?!
The unit looks pretty and lightweight, and amazon price is amazing (199.00 vs 299.00)compared to others on the net.
I stick to Amazon from now on. Thanks, Amazon !

You really need an external light when you are at a wedding or in a dark room and people are moving. Excellent value.
