Bought 4 minos (Amazon had the best price), one for each of my adult children and one for my sister! It keeps us all connected! My sister is retired and RVs so she shares the wide-open spaces as she travels. Nothing beats viewing the grandkids on video almost instantly! I feel pretty smart with my Christmas shopping this year.

I absolutely love my Flip Ultra Camcorder! I highly recommend it! I am one of those people who just wants something handy for those special moments that just jump up and demand video. I hate lugging anything big around and this fits in my purse perfectly. I don't expect to make movies like DeMille or Spielberg, I just want to record family and fun and this fits the bill! I've taken my recorder to the river (highly recommend the aquapac), to Disneyland, weddings, sledding in the snow with the grandkids and videotaping just how darn cute they are! Canon VIXIA HF100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

This camcorder is a joy to use. The video quality is really amazing especially for the price. This was my 2nd HD camcorder. The first was a convenience, impulse purchase of a Panasonic HD-9 from Costco. Took it back-the video wasn't very good and image stabilization didn't work.
Then I did a lot of research and concluded HF100 was for me. No HV30 because of tape issues and microphone picks up hi-pitch tape noise. No HF10 because SD cards are so cheap anyway.
This camera is easy to operate, though you will want practice if you plan to navigate through the plethora of very useful custom settings. Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

I previously owned a Canon ZR930. I bought it for web and other marketing video. It is a great budget, entry level camera, but the resolution is not stellar and the lower light performance is not great, either. I had to return 2 of them before getting a ZR930 that worked--one had a blown mic port and another had a blown Firewire port. Third time was the charm and the ZR930 is a great entry level camera that can be had for less than $300--and it includes a mic port, which is a must.

I upgraded to this camera (Canon VIXIA HV30) after alot of research and I am glad I went with the one I did. I decided on tape because of the flexibility and proven technology and ease of transferring to computer. Hard drive or flash cameras have a pretty fixed recording ... Read More:
