For what I needed this for, it works well. I don't know what the actual magnification is, but I'm not worried for the price I paid. The added light feature is really useful, too.

it is worth its price. I strongly suggest to people who have interest in microscopy. Easy setup (actually out-of-the-box ready!) 5 free uniteresting slides, but still good enough to set up your fine tunes.

I had bought these slides for my 11 year old daughter who had just recieved a microscope. When they arrived, two of them were broken! Luckily, the specimen was not damaged, so they were still okay to use. I think those slides broke because the wooden box was a little too big for the slides to fit in. Each slide was labeled with the name of the specimen that you were looking at. There were some spelling mistakes on the labeling on the slides, but everything on the little sheet that had all the names on it was spelled correctly. For example, the sheet said that specimen #22 was part of a Dog's Small Intestine. The label on the slide itself said it was part of a Small Lntestine. Intestine was spelled incorrectly. BelOMO 10x Triplet Loupe Folding Magnifier

I wanted a handheld magnifier for plant and insect identification and this BelOMO loupe exceeds my requirements. The field of view is indeed quite good, and the casing is well constructed. It is an excellent value at going prices.

Don't let the pictures fool you; loupes like this one are still ridiculously small (approx. 1" x 1.25" x 1" when closed) and will get lost easily even in your daypack. If you plan on using it regularly in the field, it would be worth the couple extra dollars to purchase this loupe with one of the optional clip-on neck lanyards (sold via Amazon by Amateur Geologist, the US supplier for BelOMO loupes in the US).

Bought this microscope for my daughters 12th birthday. All the kids loved it, said they were coming to her house. She loves and I must say it is interesting to me too. I would recommend it.

Celestron 44412 Prepared Microscope Slides (100-Piece Set)

Celestron has taken the typical Chinese laboratory prepared slides, corrected many of the spelling errors in the listing that comes with the box and packed the wooden box in a nice printed cardboard box. The selection is more interesting than the three other '100 slide' collections that we have, but the quality of the slides is the same. Only about forty of the slides are duplicates of our other sets, and ten of those are different enough to merit keeping both prepared specimens. I like the wooden box, and Celestron's slide labels are better than the other three sets because they have the slide numbers located at the very top of the label (some sets do not number the slides themselves).

The Celestron microscope is a great little tool, usually I have to go into the clean room to view a package under one of our optical microscopes, now I can do it at my desk. It's well worth the small cost!.

The microscope/camera combination is great in every way except one very important feature, the top light is inadequate. It is too far away and not bright enough to light solid specimens. It does work fantastic for specimens that light can pass through.
