I have been experimenting with a few low-end security cameras. This is the most expensive camera I have tried, and also the best. It has a very sharp image during the day, and is also surprisingly sharp at night. At night it suffers some from glare on the lens caused by the numerous infrared LEDs. But still, the LEDs provide a lot of illumination which overall is a good thing. This camera is definitely a step up from the SVAT CV31 Hi-Res Outdoor CCD camera. It is both significantly sharper during the day, and significantly brighter at night. Also, it does not suffer from the pinkish cast I sometimes see in the SVAT image during the day. The Q-See is also a more compact design and feels more solid overall. I am especially amazed by the bright ... Read More:
Let me start by saying that I give this a Five Star rating based on performance-for-price; this product is not without its shortcomings.
I have an Intel motherboard with an Intel CPU and everything works great for me. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit. nVidia nForce chipset and nVidia 8800 GTS Graphics. I had lots of blue-screens when I first installed this card, but after updating the nForce drivers from nVidia's website everything has been great. (I have read that AMD users may have more issues.)
A point that I want to make very clear is about the "30 FPS (frames per second)" of video capture; this card can, in fact, encode 30 frames per second of MPEG video, but it is divided amongst the 4 camera ports. IE: ... Read More:
This 100 foot cable is extremely thin and cheap. I bought 3 of these extensions to work with the Q-See-QSD6204-250 and 3 Q-See QSC48030 High Resolution Weatherproof CCD Camera. Out of the box 1 of the 3 100 foot cables were bad and as of the date of typing this review, 2 of the 3 60 foot cables that came with the cameras were bad.
The following is a quote from my review of the cameras, but because the cables are the same, and I had the same problems with both sizes, it is necessary to include it.
[To say they were bad doesn't explain fully what you as a consumer will face when/if you purchase this equipment. The cables (60 foot & 100 foot) are very thin, slightly thicker then a toothpick. The video feed is actually a braided ... Read More:
Worst ever, Chinese crap. Picture is not worth watching. I dont know if the Q See cameras are bad or the DVR is bad. Cameras are supposed to work at night, all I see are shadow people. Got s a gift from Costco, its going back.
Am using the Q-See PCI DVR card with an HP computer that is dedicated to home phone (VoIp), Skylink Security system and the Q-See 4 channel card for surveillance cameras. The card installed with ease and has met expectations. It allowed me to keep from buying a dedicated DVR and use a computer I had around the house (Windows XP OS, 2.7 gig single processor, 2 gig ram, 320 external USB hard drive that offers ample storage for 4 cameras). The software running the card allows for motion detection and 1, 2 or 4 split screen mode. In researching and using various security cameras and equipment, I have found that you are pretty much on your own with the DIY home surveillance set-up as ALL instructions with ALL brands I use leave a lot to be desired. That said, this product ... Read More:
The camera does not have sufficient information to tell you why or how the circulating blower works. Although it gives great video (somewhat blurred) in daylight it also gives good video in color at night for a very good distance these attributes cannot be overcome by the large size and the fact that it requires the power source (110 outlet) where the camera is located. Power cannot be supplied over a dual wire cable similar to other Q-See cameras. Would not recommend due to size and power requirement.
Purchased three of these cameras from Amazon for indoor use. Camera quality is quite dissapointing.
The video extension cable is garbage and totally unsheilded, I was actually picking up radio stations using the cable that came with the camera, not to mention the horrible picture.
If you do purchase this camera, be sure to buy or make up your own video cable...
Q-See QPD308 is a decent camera for its price.
My only dissatisfaction with this product is that the LEDs emit a visible red light. When put next to a window, which was my intention, the LEDs reflect off the glass surface which makes it impossible to see anything.
When tested in the house it worked fine but that wasn't what I bought the camera for.
The quality of the picture is very good when tested on a 8" LCD display.
I called the manufacturer and they couldn't even figure out what the hell they were doing or saying. I even gave them a big clue and they still didn't get. What a shame for them. How excellent for the sellers on Amazon. Exactly what I needed.
This product is same as described in purchase. Delivery was very quickly and good conditions. I recommend this product and provider. Sincerely. Jose Pena
