The first time I put it on my D200, the mounting base broke in two!!!! I knew from previous reviews this could happened so I was very careful. Didn't matter... I applied very little pressure but it just snapped. It still works ( but you have to carefully align the 2 pieces) and does what it says it will do for the flash, but there is a definite design flaw... For the money I expected something a little better!!!! If it didn't break I'd give it 4 stars....
Ever since I got I keep it in my bag at all times. If I don't have my strobes this is what I use for fill, outdoors, indoors, events and some times even group shots.
It might take you a bit to become familiar with its use but it is great to have.
I have used all type and manner of portable diffusers and this is the best by far. Not only does it perfectly diffuse light onto the subject, but it comes in especially handy when you are shooting multiple people at once. Because it sends out a 360 degree light beam, all of the people in the shot are lit evenly.
I have used these with other flashes and some fit them perfectly and some don't. Thankfully, at least with the Nikon SB-600, this is one of the ones that fits just fine without any adhesive or velcro needed. In fact, this fit the SB-600 just right. Not too tight, but still tight enough that you can shake it violently up and down and it will not budge.
Take my word for it: I've tried countless diffusers and this ... Read More:

Turn your flame thrower into a good light source! People actually look alive rather than washed out and dead. Highly recommended.

I have used these with other flashes and they fit them perfectly. Unfortunately, this one does not fit the 430EX as perfectly as the others I have used fit their respective flashes. If you are going to be using the 430ex you will have to use some sort of adhesive, velcro, etc. in order to get it to stay on. If you don't it will slide off. Again this is the only Fong product that I have had this trouble with. I do want to say that the product works so well that ... Read More:
Originally, I bought the Gary Fong Lightsphere II. I read that the Gary Fong Lightsphere #1 was terrific, but alas, it fell off all the time. So I figured the Gary Fong Lightsphere II would address this problem. Silly me.
The good news is, for $10 more, the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere comes with the Gary Fong "archival" band (its a rubber band) and the Gary Fong Velcro strap. Using these two items, the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere really does stay in place. Only hitch is, the Gary Fong promotional CD that comes with the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere doesn't explain the attachment proceedure. It does, however, give a series of Gary Fong promotional demos, featuring Gary Fong.
I figured it out pretty quickly but it was just ... Read More:
I had quit using traditional flash diffusers sometime ago. I don't use a flash all that much in my photography so I just didn't feel like carrying around something that took up so much space in my bag.
Then I saw the Origami and was intrigued by it's ability to foldup flat. So I ordered one and it is just what I needed. It is easily attached to the flash unit, it takes only a few seconds to so. Then when I am done it comes off in a few seconds, folds up and slips back into my bag.
Now I have a diffuser whenever I need it! Thanks Gary!
I use the Amberdome with the Cloud Diffuser Light Sphere for indoor flash portrait photography for one reason: to warm up the cold light from the flash to balance the warmer tungsten (e.g. incandescent) light in the background. The camera must be placed into 'Tungsten' white balance mode. The result is a very natural photo in which the direct light from the flash is subtly blended with the background light. Without the amberdome and your camera set to 'Auto' white balance mode, the subject directly illuminated by the flash will be white-balanced correctly, but the background will be very orange. Some people say to shoot RAW and correct the color in post processing: you cannot easily do so with a single adjustment layer because there are two distinct white temperatures. ... Read More:
I can't believe just how horrible this product is. This is now my 2nd Gary Fong diffuser because the first one I purchased kept falling off my camera, just like the other reviews said. So, I purchased this one, with the big rubberband (that's a nice feature)and the velcro strap (which is totally useless). I have a Canon 430 speedlite, and the diffuser is about 1" too big, so naturally the giant rubberband and velcro attachments are of no benefit. I've given up on Gary Fong (thus far I've donated to Gary Fong some $100) and will try a different product. Don't waste your time & money on these diffusers.
OK, there is no one diffuser to work in all situations, but this one is pretty darned versatile. And you can find knock-offs on a certain auction site.
