I bought this camera to take on a week long (no electricity) dory trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It took great pictures and was lots of fun to have going through the white water rapids. However, I guess because it only has an LCD display (no viewfinder) its battery only lasted through about 150 pictures. I wish I had taken an extra (charged) battery with me on the trip. I've had the K200D for about two weeks now and have no regrets. This is the best camera out there for the money. If you have any interest at all in learning to take better pictures this camera will be ready as you learn more, but it's also good for the true beginner with lots of auto modes to help you.
I think the things that make this better than the competition are 1) shake reduction in the body. When you start buying lenses you don't have to keep paying for that feature in every single lens (nikon VR?) 2)very durable body construction and weather/dust sealed. nice features, very slim camera and no protruding lens. Must read the manual to fully understand the features. Where can you see a camera with 8MP 7X optical zoom with this kind of slim camera, with a very reasonable price.

Pentax Whitetails Unlimited 10x50 Binoculars

Very nice and clear. Pulls in alot of light. You can look through them at dusk when you cannot make out any details with the naked eye and see things very clear.

Pentax Remote Control F for Pentax Digital Cameras

Remote control is compact and works even when pointing away from the camera. The only flaw is the tiny deeply recessed rubber button. I have normal size fingers, yet it is very difficult to depress trigger button completely with a thumb. There is no tactile indication that a button was pressed either.

It's small and very light so you can take it anywhere. Icons that are fun and easy to use. Takes great pictures. I love the soft flash mode, the warm skin tone mode and the rechargeable battery. The only thing is that I got it in pink, great color, but my little granddaughter thinks it's her toy!

Pentax DA 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 ED AL IF Lens for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras

Being new to dSLRs, I decided to purchase this lens for my new K200D. It is a very nice walk around lens and I used it on a recent trip to the Smokies. I was able to take some excellent pictures using just this lens and the zoom telephoto allowed me to take a variety of picts of the same scenery using the same lens.
The only fault is that you have to remember to lock the lens when not in use. (There is a "lock" button on the lens) If you don't, the lens will extend to full length if you point it downward, like when you hang it around your neck or try to put it in a holster case.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the lens mounted on my K200D. Then again, since I use my camera for kostly landscape and scenery, and I am a newbee when it comes ... Read More:
