I have to admit that my only background with night vision devices has been with later-generation goggles in the military. As such, my expectations and review criteria might be a bit different than some.
I purchased this monocular for a camping trip, in the hopes of being able to watch woodland critters going about their natural activities. I found that my ability to do that was dependant on many variables. In normal (non-IR) mode, it's only MARGINALLY (infinitesimally...not much) better than normal night vision. In an open field, with full moonlight, you can clearly see a medium-sized dog running around out to about 30 feet. Out to 100 feet, you can tell that there's something moving out there. Beyond that, everything blends. ... Read More:
Many concerts do not allow you to bring in a camera, or they only allow the little point-and-shoot digitals that most people have but those do not zoom in enough or capture enough light for very good concert pictures. I've used these at an outdoor arena (from the cheapo lawn seats) and an indoor stadium (good seats but not directly up front, as you can't take focused pictures if you are TOO close), and the pictures were great. You need a steady hand as there is no image stabilization. I just hold my breath when taking a picture. There is a slight delay writing to the card, so you can't take another picture for about 10 seconds, but I strongly recommend using a 2GB SD card for your pictures rather than internal memory. If you shoot to memory, and change ... Read More:
It works well enough as soon as you get used to it. The family has been enjoying it.
But there are moderate and avoidable issues that Celestron should address:
o The clock necessary for tracking does not keep the time after powering off forcing one to set it each time. This is an annoyance. These days, that would be a simple function to provide but for some reason Celestron does not.
o The battery compartment is cheaply made and the cover tends to pop off.
o The software TheSky is old and certain functions cause the program to crash. The only way to fix that is to go the the publisher's web site and pay for a new version. Celestron should provide a version that does not crash.
The telescope is a little bit difficult to use and would be perfect if the tripod had longer legs, but otherwise, I am extremely pleased with the purchase. It is definitely something I would purchase again.
We bought these binoculars for a trip to Alaska. They are fairly compact and lightweight, which made them perfect for viewing wildlife and scenery while backpacking. My only complaint is that we lost one of the objective lens caps, and it has been pretty much impossible to replace it. Nikon says that part has been backordered for 7 months, and I can't find any dealers who sell it. It seems crazy, especially after reading the other reviewer's comment about how easy it is to lose the cap.... we must not be the only ones with this problem.

Pentax has always made a superior product and the really did with this item. I bought these as a gift and am very happy with them. They are a little higher in price but that is the quality item. Why you might ask? They came in a black leather case and a necck strap. They are APPRX. 5 inches high by 5 inches wide and 2 inches deep and are adjustable to your face (eye) speration. Lifetime limited warrenty. Instructions make it very clear to only use lens cleaner no "Windex". These are true binoculars, you do not just adjust one but both for a great three D effect. We used them to look at the mountain that is apprx. 1000 feet from our home and it brought it so close and clear.

My son loves this product, he's barely taken it off since we got it a month ago! We did notice that it gives slight tunnel vision, and he does regularly bump into walls, but as he's only 2 1/2 that is to be expected!
These are great, I think everyone should have a pair, and then no one needs to be afraid of the dark! And we save on energy because we don't need lights (as often) mind you, you go through a lot of batteries!!!

I do not hunt but purchased this for GOlf. I demod the "V2" golf version from Bushnell (exactly the same as this one) and this is IDENTICAL to the golf version for much less (100). Superb on teh course. I've used it a half a dozen time on difference courses and on the range and it is great. I had trouble once getting a dark blue flag from 250+ but have hit white flags from 250+. Dark colors are harder to hit for any laser finder. Bunkers from the tee, bunkers around the green, hills to clear, you name, you can hit it. Unfortunately I got mine for 200 off Amazon and I see they have went up to 250 recently. GREAT PRODUCT.
A good scope but clarity at higher power is not as good as I expected. Still, for the money this scope serves me well. Also found it great for watching wildlife from our rear deck.
