I've had this camera for a few months now and have began to love it. I'll start with this. The video and picture quality isn't the greatest. Some newer cell phones will rival this in quality. However for the price of this camera I'm not overly worried about damaging the camera. I use both the suction cup mount and a helmet mount and have had no problems being exposed to 150+ mph at the race track. The cam lets you capture moments where you never thought possible. I've also found it to be a useful tool to refer back to and see exactly what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. Purchase new VX-2100 in September 2008 & did so based on the fact I have had a Sony VX-2000 for 5 years. The VX-2000 has a clear eye viewer and the VX-2100 reminds me of looking through a plastic toy microscope. Still has all the good quality of VX-2000 but, a very cheap eye piece.

I really like this camera. It is compact, shoots nice stills and has good sound qualities. The interface is intuitive and I was tweking settings right out of the box with little or no reference to the manual. It is perfect for quick family videos and fits in a small camera bag, making it easy to transport. The problem is when you shoot long videos and want to edit them down. I have found that for my purposes the .MOD format this camera produces is old and has to be converted to .avi or .wmv for the sort of editing I want to do. That means a very long conversion process through the supplied software, which I did not find particularly usable or helpful. This videocam has excellent picture and sound quality. The basic instructions are easy to understand and implement, and because all you have to do is take the dvd out of the camera and put it into a dvd player ( including a playstation 2 ), it makes for ease of use. You really won't believe the quality. The camera itself is easy to hold in your hand and because it looks like a cd player, you won't have to worry about theft as much. The cost is very reasonable. The one thing i will say that you need to keep in mind is that while you can pick up the mini dvd at Wal-Mart and other stores, you may have trouble finding them in Europe.
