I was using a MiniDV camcorder and decided to up grade. I'm not a big Canon fan, mostly because of price but I sure do love this camcorder. There is A LOT of great features on the HG21 and yes it does have a viewfinder (the HG20 does not). Its very simple to use and you have a lot of storage with the 120GB hard. I love shooting in the 24p cinema mode. I definitely would recommend it! If you don't need a huge hard drive or viewfinder than go with the HG20 its exactly the same and you will save some $$$.

Up until this camcorder I was recording off of the HDV format. With the emergence of Blue-Ray as the winner of the HD war, I decided to switch. After much research, I bought this model refurbished from Amazon Warehouse Deals. The first one arrived without a battery, so I returned it. The second one arrived in great condition (except for a tattered box) with all parts accounted for. This is my second transaction with Amazon Warehouse Deals for a refurbished product, and I think they offer great value if you can live with the fact that the box has been opened and may not be in the best of shape.

I only shoot family events (vacations, birthdays, etc.) but I wanted to make sure that all of our personal, memorable moments could be viewed ... Read More:

-Excelent and clear video
There some problem with traspassing video to others format without an appropiate software that is not incluide
Very good night shot
Not possible to record more than 15 min with single dvd disc in HD video.
That the razon it's cheap and because of it Sony create UX20 with memory include
very good photos and easy to copy

I just bought this camera and it works on my MacBook.
You need a firewire cable to import your movie into
iMovie 06 and everything is fine. For the money it
is OK. I do stop action animation so that is why I bought it.
(I have not tried it yet in iMovie 08, so I don't know if it
imports into that.) You can download iMovie 06 for free if you
have iMovie 08 from the Apple site.

I had this item in my Cart when it was $350. The price dropped to $250 and I made my purchase right away. Then I found out that there is a new kid in town, the SANYO XACTI E2 which cost just another $100. The same price of E1 just days before.

For $100 more I learned that you get :

8 megapixel (new E2) vs 6 megapixel (E1)
60frames per sec recording (new E2) vs 30frames per sec recording (E1)
Face detection technology that suggests improvements in the focus.
fast 5frames per sec photo shots (to capture fast action)
New underwater white balance mode.

Bought the camcorder about 2 weeks back. Was delivered within 3/4 days. Takes great videos and excellent pictures. Also since its quite handy to carry, don't have to take my Nikon Digital camera always.
Only con for me is the sound volume on the videos. For some reason the volume sometimes is barely audible if one is not speaking loudly wherease my old Sony Hi8 Camera would capture the slightest sound clearly. Have tried all the sound settings but haven't been very successful. Took it to daughter's performance concert and there the volume was good.

I received a unit that had a bad battery or a bad charger. I called and asked it I could get a different battery,
but was told I would have to send the unit back. I obtained a RA and sent the unit back UPS (no charge to me)
Expecting to receive a replacement, instead I got a call telling they were sorry but I wouldn't get a replacement
but I would receive my money back. Received my money less the shipping charges that was incurred on my
initial order.I later found that the camera was no longer available so I went to Sears and got a different one
on sale. I don't get why it happened this way unless the Model is discontinue but no one has indicated this.

the camera looks nice, has a full size seperate SD card and a large viewing screen, and uses AA batteries..all these are pros.

the cons are, the video is very inferior compared to the flip (we bought both the rca ez210, ez205 AND FLIP ULTRA). the ez210 has slightly better video than it's smaller version the ez205...but still is fairly blurry, unable to see deatails the flip has no problem with. e.g. i video-ed a phone book ad and the flip was easily read but both rca's you could not read the printing...colors on the rca are washed out compared to the flip, and the rca does not nearly as well in low light and gets washed out in brighter colors, especially if there is any difference in gradients...my wife's face was washed out when the light from the outside ...
