I purchased this camera for my husband's 40th Birthday. We love it! It been about a month and we've taken almost 800 pictures since. It has amazing features and I recomend everyone to buy it. I had been looking around for one for a while. I wish I could slip it into my purse but the finished quality is more important to me. The zoom is also amazing.

I purchased a Canon Powershot SD990 IS camera after my five-year old Powershot A70 died due to a sensor failure. (Even though the camera is long out of warranty, if I return it to Canon, they will replace the sensor.)
Shutter Lag was a major problem with A70. The SD990 IS appears to have none.
Low-light photographs with the A70 were always blurred because of camera motion. The image stabilization and the ISO 3200 setting of the SD990 IS produce low-light images with no blur.

The sensor of the SD990 IS is a 1/1.7" CCD (7.60 x 5.70 mm, 0.43 sq cm); the A70 sensor is 1/2.7" (5.27 x 3.96 mm, 0.21 sq cm)

The LCD of the SD990 IS is larger and much brighter.

This camera is amazing! I love this camera! It's been wonderful taking such fantastic photos. Ones that I actually want to display. =) Ones that people want copies of to put on their walls!

Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Gold)

This camera comes packed with great features and does a decent job in low light. The wide angle lens allows you to get up close to get everyone in a picture which comes in handy for close up shots. The in house red eye reduction software is a pleasure to work with and saves me time when I am touching up photo's. This camera shoots great out door shots and does very well indoors as well, but be aware it does have some issues with a pretty bright flash which can lead to lighting up dust spots in the air which can cause problems. My older 800 series camera was really bad, Canon seems like they improved this but it is still an issue. What they need is a flash intensity setting, which would help. Excellent control and user interface layout... low light photography with the kit lens alone is a knock-out!... 4.5 frames/sec. got you covered for action shots... the HD video feature is a plus... but you'll be turned off by the mediocre audio quality... Feature by feature the best pro-sumer DSLR to date... Easily, the camera which bridges the consumer and professional photographers... so why are you still sitting there?... go get it!

I am a scrapbooker, enough said, I take lots of pictures. I have had this camera 2 months and didnt want to write a review until I had a real handle on how it performs. It is the best compact camera I have owned and easy and the pictures are great. I have nothing negative to say. I have it in gold and it is very stylish.

Well, I have only had this camera for a few days,but I am very happy with it. The price is very reasonable and affordable.This also is my first SLR having owned several point and shoot film and digital. The only "negative" about this camera is the "Live View". I see this as nothing more than a selling point aimed at point and shoot users. You cannot use the live view in full auto setting, you have to be in one of the manual settings. You cannot use the shutter button for auto focus (read the review on dpreviews.com), I don't want to go into a long explaination here. The view finder is very easy to see and use for taking pics so I probably wont be using live view except maybe to compose a tripod shot,take it out of live view and take the shot.The 18-55mm IS kit lens is really a very good ...
