I upgraded from the D80, which was an upgrade from the D50. Not surprisingly, the D90 is miles ahead of both cameras. The image quality is superb. For some reason I never fell in love with my D80. It seemed to struggle with proper exposure. Strangely, my D50 didn't have that problem. But the D90 appears to get the exposure correct, most of the time. I really like the ability to adjust color saturation in-camera. The auto focus is excellent and the very fast frame rate in burst mode is great for sports shooting. The LCD screen is one of the main improvements. It is very large and bright. I'm not going to review the video mode - I didn't buy the camera for that reason. I liked the D50, tolerated the D80, but love the D90. Isn't technology ... Read More:
The instruction booklet is easy to follow. I am more a user than a reader
and I took pictures immediately. Did myself a misfavor by not reading; I left the camera on and drained my batteries. Overall it is easy to use and I'm happy. Great shipping. Thanks to the seller.

We've had the Canon Digital Rebel XSi for a few weeks now, and I am impressed by both the quality of the pictures it produces (with the 18-55 mm IS lens), and the small footprint and light weight of this camera. We usually reserve the SLR that we are using for the more intense photo opportunities, and a good point-and-shoot for general travel usage, where its lighter weight and less cumbersome support equipment is a welcome respite for the shoulder muscles. But this XSi is really no heavier or larger than our latest Olympus point-and-shoot, so we may be rethinking our approach.
The XSi is a move up for us from one of the earliest Digital Rebel camera models that came out a few years ago, mostly so we could take advantage of a better-controlled ... Read More:
I have been shooting with a DSLR for almost a year and the first 10 months were with the Nikon D40. This camera is a great starter camera. It is really easy to learn on, and works great for those who just want to shoot on auto. Plus you can't beat the price!
I recently updated to the nikon d80, and wish I had my D40 back. The D80 underexposes everything.
The reason I got rid of my D40 was because there were only 3 focusing points, and it can't auto focus with some lenses. I really wanted the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 and it wouldn't auto focus with the D40.
I would buy the D40 again and hold on to it until I could afford the D300 if I were to do it all again.
Also, the resale price was good. I bought this camera for ... Read More:

Small camera, the only negative thing is that the screen edge shouldn't be out of the camera, it should be flat.
But the camera it's still ok...

I ordered this camera package as a Christmas gift for my wife. Our old camera had fallen and broke, so we'd been borrowing one from my mother-in-law. But this deal looked like a great way to replace it, and score points for a Christmas gift.
But Electronics Express sent the camera in the original package, and just slapped some packaging tape and a shipping label on it. The surprise is ruined. I'm surprised that the camera even arrived as every postal worker that touched the box would know what was inside.
What a tremendously dumb decision. The camera (if it works like the one my m-i-l has) is great.
I have had many pro cameras for many years. I wanted the ease of a point and shoot camera but with superior optics and built in software to compensate for less than perfect lighting conditions. The camera works very well, and I did not have to use any of the extra technology that the camera comes with. As with all fine cameras do not drop or sit on the camera, and buy and use the plastic film LCD screen protector to Keep the LCD from being scratched or nicked.
