After less than a month and about 400 pictures took it, I got a "Lens error, restart camera" (not the first one with this problem Canon should know about it so far). Without any drop or hitting the camera. I was on trip mad to not viable to take more pictures. There is no international warranty.

Well this camera seemed amazing at first. It took clear pictures most of the time. But as i started to use it more and in different kinds of lighting that you can forget taking a decent picture after sundown. The image stabilization is poor and you have to fight the camera to focus on up close objects clearly.
HOwever it is a good camera and sturdy, takes great pictures during the day time though its focus is still off. or maybe thats just me? Sometimes ive gotten the shot i wanted with a bit of luck. My complaints about this camera are common for newer sony cybershots. You can't get everything you want in one package...
Nothing sucks more than hindsight. And hindsight, you see, requires time and experience.
In my case, Time means a few months, and experience means I bought a 40D.
Does this camera just ROCK!!!??? Is it AWESOME!!!??? Don't you just LOVE IT!!!???
GREAT! I will never know. My 40D makes me money, takes good stuff, works with my legacy glass, and makes me happy. But this whole 15.1MP-brighter-LCD-"oooh-I-just-love-my-50D" thing makes me sick. All the people saying "it not sharp!" and " what the big deal?" make me happy! Make me feel I made a GOOD choice...
Sigh. Jealousy is ugly, isn't it?
I was holding out of a 5D at one point. I have a buncha L series glass, full-frame, all that. Now ... Read More:
I purchased a Canon Powershot SD990 IS camera after my five-year old Powershot A70 died due to a sensor failure. (Even though the camera is long out of warranty, if I return it to Canon, they will replace the sensor.)
Shutter Lag was a major problem with A70. The SD990 IS appears to have none.
Low-light photographs with the A70 were always blurred because of camera motion. The image stabilization and the ISO 3200 setting of the SD990 IS produce low-light images with no blur.
The sensor of the SD990 IS is a 1/1.7" CCD (7.60 x 5.70 mm, 0.43 sq cm); the A70 sensor is 1/2.7" (5.27 x 3.96 mm, 0.21 sq cm)
The LCD of the SD990 IS is larger and much brighter.
Videos from the SD990 IS look good. If I wanted HD video, I would ... Read More:

I bought this camera for our office of about 35 transportation engineers. We have a small army of cameras that we take out for Field Work in the rain, sleet, and snow, and all of them must be durable and able to take detailed shots quickly in both good and bad lighting. This little guy has become a fast favorite of all the cameras, as it's easy to hold in your hand, takes steady shots in even the darkest of areas (it's all about the settings) and seems to be able to take a beating. The features are easy enough for even a novice to use, and everyone is able to upload the pictures onto their computers without any problems. A GREAT BUY!!

We've had the Canon Digital Rebel XSi for a few weeks now, and I am impressed by both the quality of the pictures it produces (with the 18-55 mm IS lens), and the small footprint and light weight of this camera. We usually reserve the SLR that we are using for the more intense photo opportunities, and a good point-and-shoot for general travel usage, where its lighter weight and less cumbersome support equipment is a welcome respite for the shoulder muscles. But this XSi is really no heavier or larger than our latest Olympus point-and-shoot, so we may be rethinking our approach.
The XSi is a move up for us from one of the earliest Digital Rebel camera models that came out a few years ago, mostly so we could take advantage of a better-controlled internal flash ... Read More:

The Nikon D300 DSLR is one of the most feature rich cameras for it's price. The Nikon D300 is is a rugged camera with a magnesium alloy frame and a fair amount of weather/dust sealing. The ruggedness of this camera is apparent from the moment you first pick up to handle it. The controls and buttons are well placed and easy to use, and if you've used other Nikon DSLRs, you'll find the D300 controls quite familiar with few exceptions.
At 12.3MP from it's DX sensor, the Nikon D300 offers crisp accurate colors and sharp detail that can't be found in the lower priced consumer level cameras. The quality is especially noticeable in less than perfect shooting conditions such as poorly lit situations, where the auto-focus performance coupled with usable images up to the ISO 3200 ... I have owned this camera since June 2008, prior to this shot with Canon's PowerShot G2. So my review is based on upgrading from an old but still very good point and shoot camera with manual controls to a modern SLR. Since there are obvious difference between the two I'll concentrate on some of the features I like: Custom setting (C1,C2,C3) and the My Menu setting.
The 40D has a multitude of options available, highlight recover, iso noise reduction, mirror lock up, bracketing, live view, etc... but generally you don't need all of these options all the time, that's where the custom setting function comes in handy. Swapping between different shooting profiles is as easy as turning the dial.
Another feature I like is the My Menu setting as you can put your "favorite" ... Read More:
