Good product reasonably priced. Takes a bit of getting used to for figuring out how to handle the flash exposure. I increased about 1/2 stop and does well on most subjects but distance is critical. If you are taking pic's on the fly, plan on bracketing or else fixing the exposure in your software later. I like this product and once I got the additional strap for fixing it on the flash it is easy to use.
I found that I had to adjust the angle a bit by experimenting with the position of the side flaps to get the optimum flash bounce. I would recommend taking quite a few pics in various light ranges to figure before you go into a serious shooting.

I've been on PRESSlite's mailing list since they started their teaser about this product earlier this year. It looked like a great concept and was unlike any of the other flash diffusers out there. I had used the standard pop-on plastic dome (fair results), a Gary Fong lightsphere-like product (too big and heavy), a mini-softbox for speedlights (too flimsy and bulky). When the VerteX finally became available, I ordered mine right away to give it a try.
The VerteX was something new. I immediately used it for an event I was shooting to give it a try. At first it was a little tricky figuring out how to aim the reflectors and which side work best for which shots. I got the hang of it after awhile and liked the results. The trick is ... Read More:
I got my Sony DSC F828 a year and a half ago and have wanted an external flash for it since day one. The Sony HVLF32X is easy to use and I love the fact that you can change its angles for direct flash or ambient lighting. For this camera, the cable isn't needed so I just slid it on to the hot shoe location and it was good to go. It does have a decent turnaround between pictures, fast enough for me and I have a tendency to keep clicking.
I haven't used it a whole lot, but so far I enjoy its ability to brighten pictures up without making them look like you're using a flash. I'm still an amateur but I think the quality of my pictures will greatly improve with the use of the flash - much more effective than the flash on my camera.

This does what it is supposed to do. Good Guide number, wireless capabilities, bouncing capabilities, High speed sync(even in wireless mode), manual zoom.
I am very happy with its performance. It gave me correct exposure with Sony A700 and A100. I prefer to use it in wireless bounce mode with camera in manual meter. This is a must for every Sony DSLR owners.

I just bought the Vixia HF100 camcorder and the built-in video light is adequate if in a situation where you MUST shoot in a very low light setting. Unfortunately, the HF100's light is very much on the cool-blue end of the light spectrum and makes for some ugly skin tones and just plain awful video in general. The VL-5 light, while perhaps emitting only 25 to 50% more lumens than the onboard light, has a distinctly warm tone, which translates into better skin tones and an overall acceptable image. The VL-5 is small but not "tiny" (protrudes 2 3/8" from top of camera, and measures 2 1/2" from front to back at the widest point). The light has a switch for "On, Auto, and Off." You can't use both the onboard light and the VL-5 at the same time (the HF100 won't allow it). ... Read More:
It works, but the build quality is so poor that I don't use it = waste of money. You basically have to hold both flash and camera, since the plastic will not support the weight of either.
I had quit using traditional flash diffusers sometime ago. I don't use a flash all that much in my photography so I just didn't feel like carrying around something that took up so much space in my bag.
Then I saw the Origami and was intrigued by it's ability to foldup flat. So I ordered one and it is just what I needed. It is easily attached to the flash unit, it takes only a few seconds to so. Then when I am done it comes off in a few seconds, folds up and slips back into my bag.
Now I have a diffuser whenever I need it! Thanks Gary!
This diffuser does all that it is supposed to do. It is easy to put on / take off and does even out the flash. The retaining clip did take a couple of minutes to install, but that is something that is not going to fall off. The diffuser clips on and off the retainer and that only takes a second. This makes it easy when changing settings and scenes.
I have a Canon 430EX flash unit and I wanted to be able to add some bounce ability and control, with or without a ceiling present. Then it also depends on the height of the ceiling that is present. This intelligent little unit unfolds and attachs to Velcro(tm), hook-n-loop fastened around the flash head. I purchased the LUMIQUEST Cinch Strap - Easily attach and remove flash bounce as I did not want to attach the double sticky-back Velcro(tm) directly to my flash unit. The Cinch Strap takes care of that and works like a champ.
This unit folds nicely for inserting a space the size of a small camera (read Canon S5 IS) and installs in seconds and allows one to go from shooting with the flash unit head in a direct vertical position down to a few angles below directly ... Read More:
