Unfortunately I carry work home. As a business owner with a steady influx of information, I have tried to stay as electronic as possible with the storage of this information. I have two document scanners in my office that get used reguarly and wanted to upgrade at home from the flatbed scanners I have used for years. I researched options and truthfully, the Epson GT2500 was the least expensive one with good reviews. This scanner has been in service in my home for two years and there have been no equipment issues. I am able to create electronic documents of my typical 5 to 15 sheets in very reasonable time. Double sided scans are a little slow, but there has been only one jam in the 2 years, created by me not separating a previously stapled ... Read More:
This printer has never worked correctly from the time of purchase. I bought it in 2005 and have had nothing but continuous issues. The print nozzles get stuck all of the time - I have had problems where I have cleaned the nozzles replaced the ink and it will go through the motions of printing, but then the paper comes out with no ink. I don't even use it that frequently. Now, the it will not feed paper. The roller will only roll the paper in one inch, start to print and then gives a paperjam error.
I am SO disappointed that I will NEVER buy another Epson product.
This scanner is wonderful! I work for my local historical society and this is the scanner that we use to do all of our digital preservation. We use it to scan large format negatives and it works like a dream.
I replaced an HP 722 with this printer because a friend was very enthusiastic about the the quality of the printing. The quality is very good but I am truly amazed at how much ink the printer uses, even for day-to-day mundane printing. I use this printer mostly for spreadsheets and word documents. Most have some color but not much. The ink just disappears.
I'm hooking the HP back up and will use the Epson only when print quality is a serious concern of mine,

I was astonished at what this scanner could do, in terms of preserving the gentle tones of my black and white negatives. My only regret is that there is no equivalent to Digital ICE for black and white. That problem is not unique to this scanner, of course.
The quality of the images I get from this scanner, with negatives from a basic 1970-vintage twin lens camera, trounces the images I get with a Canon 5D SLR. I also have used it with 35MM negatives, which work beautifully, and with both 4.5cm x 4.5cm negatives and 110 negatives, which require that I jury-rig a special mask for the glass-covered medium format carriage (FH-869GR, not included).
The 9000ED comes with a 35MM carriage, 35MM slide carriage, and basic MF carriage. For ... Read More:
I own one I got it for Free when I bought My Camera...Yeah. It may have good features, BUT it doesn't do anything very well. The photos aren't worth the money you spend on the paper you print it on.
Yeah.
Plus it is SOOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW...... even when just printing a black text on on like a word document.
In Addition, *ALWAYS CHECK HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO BUY THE INK CARTRIDGES!*
To refill all the colors PLUS just 1 black.

To get your better performance, this is not it. To keep Prices low...Still not worth it (due to the High Ink Refill Price for such a tiny in Cartridge.)

do NOT buy this printer. everything in the reviews posted here prove correct. the ink on my printer completely ran out after very little time. i, too, tried to replace only the black but was forced to buy the color cartridges (even though i had BARELY used them at all.) After replacing all of them, STILL NOTHING. just wouldn't work or register the new cartridges. what a total piece of CRAP!!! never EVER buy epson.

I only scanned about 15 rolls of APS before it gave up the ghost. Luckily, it has a 1 year warranty. I sent it off to Nikon for repair. The scans were for the most part fine. Oddly enough they're always rotated wrong, but that's easy enough to fix. Preview takes too long, so work off of your index prints.

This is a good printer if you're still running Windows XP or Mac OS 10.4 or lower, but AVOID it if you're using Windows Vista! There are no native Windows Vista drivers for this printer, and the generic Windows Vista drivers for the HP Deskjet series do not include support the memory card reader or ink level monitoring.
I've owned this printer for about 2 years. I switched from XP to Vista and downloaded the patch from HP. The printer worked great. Now I have problems after all of HP updates and after many phone calls and hours with tech support they have informed me that they no longer support this printer with Vista. Also the patch for Vista is no longer available on HP's website. If you still have XP go for it.
