Speaking as a long-time user and very happy camper with my Family Tree Maker Software...In my humble opinion, the Family Tree Maker Software is where you want to go if you are considering a genealogy program. And if you already have the FTM software, the 2009 version is ESPECIALLY where you want to be. The step up to this version is very much worth the effort and is recommended.
The new software has an ease of use, maintains small and large databases with reliability and stability, is visually appealing in its' layout and design, and includes nearly every tool one could possibly hope for to aid in the development your tree. The reporting, charting, and mapping capabilities of the software are easy-to-use and the resulting queries ... Read More:

I purchased Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing for my 7 year old grandson. He loves it! He is now constantly using it and doesn't want to quit for anything. He is learning to type and having fun.

The kids (ages 6 & 8) took right to it. no instructions necessary. they have a lot of fun with it and within the first few days had learned about half of the keys. Great way to get young kids properly introduced to proper typing.

I have had MasterCook for many years now. Every upgrade makes collecting, sharing and saving recipes easy. This one is no exception. The Impost Assistant is a great feature to gather up recipes online and convert them to my MC personal collection of recipes without having to re-type is fantastic...I love it. If you like to cook, collect and share recipes this program is a must!

I am an individual user wanting this product to replace my greetings software and home publisher which are full of glitches with Windows XP. This product is cumbersome, difficult to navigate, very user unfriendly and incredibly expensive. Seriously I would try to find any other product than this one. 8/2008

I think this is the first 5 star review I've ever given. I am so impressed with this product, I believe it may be the best piece of software I've ever used.
I started with another program by IMSI that got me through a rough sketch of what I wanted for our new home. Bug after bug and limit after limit got me to give up after a few weeks. This program was highly recommended on Amazon, so I purchased it with moderate hope. Nearly everything was intuitive and easy to do. Most importantly, I have yet to find a bug anywhere. It simply does what I want it to do quickly.
Between the two programs (both similar in layout) it took me about a week to get pretty comfortable to do just about anything I wanted. I do learn applications quickly, ... Read More:

Ok, first I have some complaints not related to the content of the program.
The first shipment we received took over a month, even though it was release the day we purchased it. When it arrived the disks were so scratched they looked used. I installed the disks but also emailed Amazon. They shipped a replacement the next day. Great right?
No, the replacement disks still look like the manufacturer dropped them on the floor and scuffed it around before picking it up.
Also, the disks are DVD-ROM only. So if you don't have a drive that will read DVD-ROMs, don't even buy this. It *will not* install with a basic CD-ROM drive.
Ok, on to the software. We used this software to replace Print Shop 12. The layout is a different color. ... Read More:

As the packaging suggests, this collection includes every issue of Star Trek comic books ever published on a single DVD-ROM. From the classic DC Comic releases to the more obscure fare such as the nearly forgotten Star Trek comic/record sets from the seventies (included here under "Bonus Material"). It's all here - even the annuals, movie adaptations, and mini-series events.
In the unlikely event a user is unfamiliar with the Star Trek universe, there's even a helpful "Bios" section which briefly explains the role of each major crewmember. In addition, there is a four-page summation of Star Trek history as well. Neither are particularly detailed, but they're a welcome bonus for a collection already brimming at the seams with material.

This version of Ms. Beacon's software makes typing even more enjoyable to learn. It is really adaptive to how well you can type - it picked up that I was an intermediate typist after a few lessons - you can't con Ms. Beacon it seems.
A few points are
1)It would be preferable if you could customize this software to eliminate some types of lessons - for example I want to touch type letters and numbers but not the minor punctuation keys like brackets -
2)The import facility is great up to a point but when you add the text from internet sources it tends to add weird hypertext characters which are annoying as you want just to type text.
3)The games are basic and not very challenging - I enjoyed a game called typing of the dead which pushes my touch typing ... Read More:
