Never recieved item. Tried to email seller several times, no answer. Had to go to Amazon to get money back. I would never buy from this seller again.

Vista is leaps and bounds over XP. From its increased security, faster start-up times and faster intall times.

I have been dealing with it since Beta 1 and have had zero issues. My machine is used for everything from gaming to development to multi-media. Vista performs as well as, or in some cases better than XP.

I generally recommend that people upgrade to Vista.

My XP HP battleship finally could sail no more.. never gave Vista any thought actually..a few days ago the inevitable happened... plus the usb ports were becoming sloppy, white screen, but when it was good it was very good.. cut to the chase... From what i gather, buying Vista is a pant load different then purchasing a new computer. I am still amazed... my old XP would recycle sometimes, didn't like rollup 3, never thought I could use my extra's lke printer with Vista/new machine, the thing feches a program and my old close and play printer (all in one) is like new in doing its thing, same with "fixing" other programs, it just about apologizes for the trouble.. I installed the full version of Vista Home Premium SP1; installed Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS2, Acrobat 8 Pro, MS Office, Oblivion, Expression Web 2, and other assorted programs, checked em' all and they worked with no problems. My hardware from the hard drives to video cards to printer and scanner and Digitech GX4 were all installed with no problem. Security software installed flawlessly and seems to work well.
Then came the exciting part... activation!!!
I hit the activation button and hauled a$$ in case this thing blew! Nothing happened. Who would've ever thought after reading some of the reviews on this site.
I am mainly a user, not an intense tech buff that figures out frame rates and data transfer times.

The sole porpuse I want a windows machine is to have Flight Simulator on it. I am a mac user, for 99% else. Well I bought a pc with Windows Vista Home Basic SP1. Here are the list of problems i have found.

1.) For some extrange reason Vista wanted to be activated twice. The second time It will tell me that I could not activate because the key was already in use. It never told me that the solution was to activate by phone, but I guessed so by posts in the internet. I called the phone number it give in my country, It was busy all the time. I tried for a couple of hours and it was busy. So I called a phone in the US, and I succedded, and went to that lengthly proccess of 9 blocks of six number. It worked. The caveat:
All my comments are strictly relative to Microsoft products.

I bought this OS after a year with an HP Pavilion that was produced during the great Vista wars when all the branded folks were refusing to build drivers for the new OS. HP had no compatible drivers, even for their bundled peripherals. After a nightmare year in which MS, to their credit, tried mightily but vainly to get my system to install SP1 and zero help from HP, I decided to wipe out every character of that nasty HP bloatware code. It worked. I'm now 100 percent HP free and my system is compatible with the world of computers. It's also much more stable. i have built three computers in the last 15 months. all running Vista [home basic and premium] using both Intel and AMD chipsets. no hardware issues. even i have been very happy with Windows XP, i prefer Vista mainly because of the features/functions Vista offers [sleep function and automatically installing drivers for most hardwares--LAN, graphic card, printer, scanner, etc.]. i can't understand why so many people [of course, mainly the Mac supporters] hate Microsoft products.

IT HAS BEEN ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE ITEM. IT IS A TOTAL LET DOWN. I GUESS THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND AN ITEM CHEAPER THAN THE MRSP. I WAS JACKE.

I purposely purchased Vista Business because I thought that Microsoft would ensure that their more expensive product would be more stable and productive that the other versions of Vista. I was wrong. Vista freezes more than any version of Windows I have used previously. I have had a new version of the blue screen of death. It does not recognize either my new printer or one of my displays even after attempting multiple updates of both of these drivers (both automatic updates, and manually).

To be blunt, Microsoft has taken a signficant step back with this product and seems to have wasted time on making a product that is more Apple-like than making a product that works.

I just couldn't install this and I've installed XP over 10 times without a problem. From what I read I think it has to do with Sata hard drives, I think a driver neeeds to be installed prior to installation, I just couldn't do it and didn't want to spend anymore time trying.
