Put the disk in your CD drive and let it fly. I am new to Linux but did not have any problems with the install on an older laptop. With some help from the on-line Ubuntu community, I was able to install printer drivers and deal with a troublesome issue with the wireless card that was install on the computer - the wireless chipset maker would not release the specs so someone in the community reverse engineered the drivers!

I have been on a lifelong search through comic stores across the country for Star Trek comic books. Never to purchase, as that would burn a decent hole into my already empty pocket, but simply to glance through the pages and read the stories in a manner so much more different than what I was used to. Comics are fun to read, and they offer a unique vision of a story and its characters. Imagine my surprise when I learned there was a compilation DVD in the works for the Star Trek comic series!

I have glanced through a good chunk of the comics included in this set, and am pleased as punch to see these stories again. Some of my favorites included the Mirror Universe Saga, the Tabukan Syndrome, the parallel universe Borg invasion, and of course ... Read More:

This software is at my daughter's daycare and she loves this it. It provides a great deal of tools for children to create beautiful pictures and is reasonably priced. It does advertise that it works for Windows, Mac and Linux. This is untrue and only supports Windows. However, I was able to run it under Linux using WINE[...]

I definitely recommend this to any parent who is looking for an inexpensive and creative program for children to make really amazing artwork.

Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? Classic

This game is educational and fun. We have a 6yr old boy who loves this. He is learning to put the case together to find Carmen. It, however, does not work on our Windows XP but does work on our MacBook.

Kubuntu Ubuntu Ver. 8.10 and Linux Training Library 2DVD+CD

It is great set of ubuntu and kubuntu and the library is top notch. I was ubuntu user but since last release, thanks to this set I decided to try kubuntu and liked it. I use ubuntu/kubuntu for two years and those are by far my most loved Linux distros. It is very convenient having it delivered. The shipment from DVDxDVD is super quick (I mean it is unbelievable how fast they do!) and their customer service is superb. I bought from them different releases for many times and they really take care. I pre-ordered this one. This set comes with complete training library for all levels of users! This was my first experience with Ubuntu (have used Linux on my PC in the distant past). I actually bought the CD at the store and paid $18. I bought it not knowing it was not the "full" distribution (see Sarah's review below) and also not knowing I was getting ripped off because the full distribution DVD actually cost half the price!

Having said that, 18 bucks was the right price for me as I needed something for that day and did not have time to mess around with burning a Linux CD.... it worked perfectly on my laptop and I booted Ubuntu off the CD (I never actually installed it on the hard drive). WiFi worked immediately and the user interface seemed very "Windows" familiar.

Disney's Math Quest with Aladdin Ages 6-9

This game has a great design and excellent graphics. Unfortunately that's where the good stuff ends. It's very very simple and not challenging at all. I bought it for my 7 and 4 year old, hoping that they could both play it on different levels, but they were bored with it pretty quickly. They both went through it twice on the most difficult level (there are only three) and after that they didn't want to play it at all. The game doesn't go above single digits for additions and I haven't seen anything that use subtraction. Logic problem are very trivial too even for 4 year old.

It's not a complete waste of money considering that it's not too expansive, but pretty close to it.
