Unfortunately, I purchased this program because of Adobe's reputation. Maybe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat are great programs, but adobe has really struck out with golive. it has a clunky interface. the ftp browser hangs on me everytime I upload.
the interface is not intuitive. when I edit pages, strange glitches occur.Shareware programs are easier to use, although not as feature rich as golive. Most of the experienced web designers I have talked to recommend dreamweaver. it looks like I will have to buy Dreamweaver

I started my web page (...) using an online page builder. A good way to start, but not very creative. I then moved up to Adobe PageMill which gave me even more opportunity to design the look I wanted. When I decided on Dreamweaver, it was out of a desire to make my page look even better, and work across platforms. It does the trick.

The program is extremely user friendly and easy to learn. Always a good thing when you're dealing with a limited schedule. The FTP interface even makes sure your support files go with the html page. All in all, a must have for the web head in you.

When I decided on Dreamweaver, it was out of a desire to make my page look even better, and work across platforms. It does the trick.

I used an earlier version of Quicksite with fairly good luck. I actually had a web site up and running with 3 pages in 1 hour. O.k., so maybe with 20 years in I.T. (Information Technology) left me understanding way more than the average internet user! But I still had no direct knowledge of building a web site. Still, it was cheaper to get QS than paying for a course or professional help. My web site has been up for over 2 years now and I'm going to be adding on a shopping catalog shortly, using QS as the guide. I've saved thousands of dollars creating the web site and maintaining it myself. It's not as fancy as other web sites but then I don't need all that to get across to people. I can only recommend this software to absolute beginners with very little or no knowledge of Web publishing. To its credit, Visual Page does offer have excellent "tour" files and novices should be able to make their own Web pages after the first day. But other users will be sorely disappointed. It is simply not sophisticated enough for many and does not support enough features. I also frequently have a problem with text and graphics being misaligned once published.

If you are just learning or need a Web site in a hurry, Visual Page has a lot to offer. But once you're beyond the beginning stage, there are far better Web publishing programs out there.

I use this for selling online. It is so great because you can use the Find and Replace function (CTRL H) in an instant within the HTML view window. This makes for easy image changing. I have found nothing else better for my own applications. I have also built a few websites with it. It is very user friendly and I would even recommend it to beginners.

If you plan on doing any custom programming whatsoever to the templates, this is useless. If you are joe blow and don't really care what some homepage of yours looks like then you can use this and probably be very happy because you don't need to know HTML. However if you are trying to run a business of course you realize that you can't just expect some template to do exactly what you want. All of the templates are background .gifs, and HTML shows up over them, making the templates extremely difficult to work with and customize.
