We're very happy with it, there doesn't seem to be any slow down and it does what it's supposed to do. Slow down was the thing I was worried about most, so I give it 5 stars.

I started out feeling very frustrated with BitDefender. When I installed BitDefender, it did not work immediately. I kept getting an error message that said the "services" were unavailable. Nothing I did would get BitDefender to work properly. It wouldn't even let me uninstall it. Despite being an administrator using Vista, it still told me that I didn't have permission to uninstall it.

After much frustration, I gave in and contacted BitDefender customer support. I was quite surprised by the help I received. I emailed customer service and an agent actually responded (as opposed to just getting a form letter in garbled English as a reply). The agent instructed me on fixing the problem. Purchased this new from Amazon and the key code will came up INVALID! sitll have not heard back from Bitdefender, and not only that it crashed my computer! I had bitdefender 10 so I thought I would stick with it, but I guess that was a very sad mistake, bad customer service, and how the heck do you issue key numbers that don't work on the first try, second try, hmm third try...... and yes they were typed in correctly I had someone with better eye sight check :)

Got this software right when it came out and it's everything Consumer Reports said it was. My PC is running like new... in fact better than new. Norton was slowing the thing down terribly. It also found a slew of viruses that Norton did not find. The other features like the gaming mode and file vault make this software a bargain. Definitely worth the #1 ranking!

Over the past few years, I have tried several anti-virus (AV) and internet security (IS) packages. I have tried Zone Alarm, Panda, Trend Micro and others. I believe that any are generally adequate and trusworthy, but a site search (and my own experience) will often reveal that BitDefender (BD) AV and IS products give the best balance of protection, system demands and cost. I have been very happy with both the older BD AV Plus and the more current BD Internet Security 2008, especially when one considers the relatively low annual cost of ownership.

This has to be one of the best Anti-virus software programs I have purchased. I previously used Norton Antivirus and its suite of applications (the standard deck that comes pre-installed when you buy a new PC) and I never realized how much it slowed my system down. After uninstalling it and installing Bitdefender, my PC starts up almost 1 minute faster and my CPU/ RAM usage is much lower as well. Bitdefender is really easy to install and set up, and even when it is performing a full system scan or deep scan, it is not a resource hog. For the price, you can't go wrong; especially since you can use it on 3 different PCs!

Install & setup was easy, ran ok the first day. Second day I notice my computer was very slow - loading of internet site was very slow and opening and closing programs. Had a lot of trouble trying to uninstall program, kept telling me it was installing program. After about the 3 or 4 time was able to uninstall. With Bitdefender removed, computer responsed faster. Install the free program AVG antivirus, very is running normal, no slow down.
That are alot of good reviews on Bitdefender, but I don't know if most of the reviews was on a Windows Vista system.

Perhaps Bitdefender was incompatible with my PC ----but is sure screwed it up--BIG TIME. It cost me over $100 to have my computer doctor to right the mess. I followed all the directions to a tee, and this security program just made more problems. Never again will I order this product. AMAZON was wonderful---refunded my money. THANK YOU AMAZON!!!
