Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 18

I thought it was a fairly good product. It was easy and fun to use, it was more like a kid's computer game than an adult product. Which could be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences. It did help me learn to type better I'm at 47 words a minute verses the 18 when I started. It has a Spanish language mode and even teaches you the numeric keys. So all in all I give it a 4 out of 5.

Hoyle Puzzle & Board Games 2008 [OLD VERSION]

I had paid for and downloaded this game many years back "Hoyle Classic Board & Card Games" but found I lost it when getting a new PC. I looked for it with no success. I was so happy when I stumbled upon this at Fryes Electronics, I could not wait to get on Amazon or half.com to price it. I got the game and I was so happy to see many of the same characters and the same formats. I was disappointed that there was no card games included, but overall, I'm very pleased!!

Hoyle Casino 2009

I have bought Hoyle Casino for several years. While the graphics remained the same, the game still got better mainly from artificial intelligence. That is not to say the game is like a person, there are definitely quirks.

2009 changes the graphics finally, though I don't think they are better, just different. Everything feels smaller. The poker tables are harder to follow because the cards and players are on top of each other. Another annoying part of casino comes with not being able to go "all-in" in poker. Last year, the option was deleted. While not restored, this year you can choose different values easier. Numerous things in the 2009 version are different, but not always better.

Monopoly 2008

If you are a fan of the classic version, you will love this game. The price from Amazon was a real bargain.

SpongeBob Squarepants Typing Win/Mac

I bought SpongeBob Typing because my autistic eight-year-old son has severe graphomotor delays, and can't keep up with his classmates when writing in the classroom. So his teachers and I have incorporated the use of a school-provided laptop in his IEP for his class writing so he won't fall behind. But that means he needs to learn to type--a year or two earlier than his peers will. Just because he thinks it's fun, my six-year-old son is playing with the tutorial too, and learning to type. When they're ready, I'll let their little sisters join them.

This typing tutorial isn't perfect, but it addresses the needs of the student well. SpongeBob's presence and humor, and the memorable games keep my sons interested. We also bought another ... Read More:

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum 20

I have been typing for many years, and have know the basics of tough typing, although I have not been able to apply them; so I have been unable to type without looking at the keyboard. One obvious problem with this being that I would not notice mistakes until long after they were made. So I finally decided to do something about it; Mavis Beacon to the rescue!

Once loaded the programmes is very easy to use; and it starts with some quite basic lessons using just a few keys. As the lessons progress so more keys are introduced. Every so often the routine of exercises is broken with a typing "game" of one form or another. There are also tests which assess whether or not you are ready to pass on the next level.

Hoyle Casino 2008 [OLD VERSION]

Am enjoying the table games - poker especially. Was disappointed in the selection of video and slot games. Most of the games do not have enough lines and can't compare to the ones available in our casinos here. Good offering of table games and have a good interaction. I like the face changer setup. In general it's OK, and I'm having some fun. JH

Fate: Undiscovered Realms

I enjoyed the original Fate, and introduced it to my grandchildren. This expands the areas to explore as well as adding more adversaries and challenges. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be getting housework done promptly!!!!

The Print Shop 22 Deluxe [OLD VERSION]

Our SeniorNet has a very talented tutor who insisted we students purchase the Version 22 which she had found superior to earlier versions.These were difficult to find in our shops, so I checked Amazon, where I found the Deluxe version readily available. It arrived within one week of purchase and already it is being put to constant use. The only problem - the instruction book has print too small for the deteriorating eyesight of old people, but that is certainly not the fault of Amazon. I am more than satisfied.
