Microsoft Word 2002 [OLD VERSION]

When I ordered my computer by phone, I specifically requested that it have Microsoft Word. It was included for the price of 24 bucks. It was not a bad investment. I use this program all of the time. I never use Microsoft Works (which was included for free). I knew I had to have SOME version of Word on my computer, since so many documents online are in Word format.

I managed to write a book using this thing. (Maybe one day I'll get it published.) There were only a few problems I ran into while undertaking the project.

Microsoft Word 2007

I write. I do tons of it. I've been using Word since it was originally released and I have moved along with the product through every new version. However, with the release of Word 2007, I may be forced to change to another software. Here's why.

The organization in 2007 is a Rubiks cube, and I spend way too much time searching for the function I need. The thesaurus is now more cumbersome and requires more mouse clicks. Page formatting is an exercise in frustration. Document protection doesn't work. Opening and closing multiple documents is more difficult and guaranteed to go wrong. I could go on and on. Microsoft Windows Live OneCare 2.0 for System Builders - 1 pack

This is a review of Windows Live One Care, security software I use with Vista and XP. I mention the two OS since the purchase price included the use of the software on THREE (3) PCs!
I have used Live OneCare since it was included in the Vista package I started using last January. Excellent use of covering all security needs, Backups, Tuneups. Puts my previous dependence on Norton to shame.Windows Live OneCare 2.0 (Up to 3 Users)

Microsoft Expression Web [OLD VERSION]

I've been building web pages using Frontpage since its first release. I've upgraded all the way through 2003. I thought upgrading to Expression was a good idea, but it has been nothing but frustrating.

I'm not a novice. I work in Photoshop to build my own graphics for all my websites - personal and professional - never used a template in Frontpage. I built everything from the ground up, and I found Expression to be an exercise in tooth gnashing. Nothing works the way it should.

The help files are useless, and unless you want to pay for video tutoring on line you're left in the cold. I've bought two books, and neither was much help either. If I tried to build anything more complex than a basic html page, it failed. The CSS wouldn't attach. The ... Read More:

Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 for PC : Upgrade only

MS Office 2007 is a powerful office toolset. However, do check carefully to make sure even the Ultimate has the programs you want--Visio is still not in this package, remember. I'll comment on what is not in Office Professional here.

I got it for the Groove folder syncing for a small network. Groove works well when it works, but I wouldn't recommend it if 1) you aren't comfortable with the basics of networking (wouldn't want to hook up a computer network at home, say) or 2) you have strong security interests on your machines or 3) you don't want to invest in Ultimate for each machine in question.
