Microsoft Access 2007

Access 2007 does basically the same as any other previous versions, but they changed the screen presentation, so now everything is either hiding or in other places. It is like having bought a different manufacturer's product. (In a car, now the brake pedal would be in the steering column and the light switch would be the accelerator....)
I think I would have been better off downloading Open Office (for free.)
Also, it is very expensive.

This product is much more powerful than my prior version of Access (1997) and is easier to do advanced things. I have been very satisfied.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2B for System Builders [OLD VERSION]

A lot of people have said "I don't know what's the difference between this and the full (retail) version." Allow me:

1- This is about half the $$.

2- If you get the full (more expensive version) and the PC (or its motherboard) dies, or you just want to replace (upgrade) it, you can move the (expensive) copy of XP to the new machine. You are NOT allowed to do that with this cheaper copy. It is "tied" to one PC (or one motherboard, depending).

3- This is XP Home. Compared to XP Pro, Home doesn't have the Encryption File System, Group Policies, Remote Desktop (server), Dynamic Disk support, Disk Manager, IIS (bad web server), Active Directory, Domain Login, Roaming Profiles, and only supports simplified (network) ... Read More:

Microsoft Office Standard 2007 UPGRADE

This was a questionable review. I had XP and didn't know whether the upgrade would make me more current so that I would be more easily able to upgrade to Window' new product coming in a number of months. The upgrade really did bring me closer to Vista, but I've had a number of problems that have caused me to need to reinstall the upgrade.

Microsoft OneNote 2007

Purchased OneNote for my new Tablet Laptop for school.
First time I tried it, the pen featured kept disabling itself stating "Windows XP tablet edition SP required". Um, ok I have that preinstalled on the laptop. Formated my machine and put a still steamy new copy of XP tablet edition back on. Nada. Upgrade to SP3, nada. Most people have had little problems with this app, but if you are like me and roll the dice wrong. You are boned, there is NOTHING out there to help you and Microsoft just says "We cannot clarify what or if there is a problem. Thank you."

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition UPGRADE with SP2

I needed to reinstall Windows XP, of course Microsoft doesn't allow using the same OS software code when you update your computer. My solution to it was to purchase the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade disk and use that product code. It worked out great and my Windows was then activated by micosoft. It's as sad thing that Micosoft is so greedy and causes such problems.

Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 Upgrade

My XP HP battleship finally could sail no more.. never gave Vista any thought actually..a few days ago the inevitable happened... plus the usb ports were becoming sloppy, white screen, but when it was good it was very good.. cut to the chase... From what i gather, buying Vista is a pant load different then purchasing a new computer. I am still amazed... my old XP would recycle sometimes, didn't like rollup 3, never thought I could use my extra's lke printer with Vista/new machine, the thing feches a program and my old close and play printer (all in one) is like new in doing its thing, same with "fixing" other programs, it just about apologizes for the trouble.. Microsoft Windows XP Professional UPGRADE with SP2

Generally speaking, to get the best performance from any operating system a clean install of a full version is recommended. The best choice is to choose a full version of the product and enjoy the benefits of not being left with artifacts and leftover's of your previous operating system which can lead to instability in certain cases. I would only buy this on a limited budget.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager

Outlook with Business Contact Manager is a misnomer. BCM is in reality a bolt-on application that works alongside Outlook with a similar file structure. This would be a fine arrangement except that Outlook and BCM do not integrate together. For example, contacts with the same name in both Outlook and BCM are different contacts and do not share information nor do they synchronize in any way. I use a hosted Outlook Exchange service that keeps my desk and mobile email and contacts synchronized. When I moved a contact from Outlook to BCM I lost visibility of that contact through Exchange and the contact became visible only through my desktop. This is an unacceptable backward step. OEM WINDOWS XP PRO Service Pak3 CD

Having to reinstall Windows can be a bear, especially when you need to spend all day installing updates and service packs. This one, with service pack 3 shorts that job down to about an hour and a half total. The drivers are adequate and only required a few updates on specific peripherals.
