I purchased this software because my kid's daycare uses Reader Rabbit. I picked this version since it was preschool to K & I've got a 3yr old & a 5yr old & I wanted something (for my first purchase of software) that they could both use. It's a two disk set with one for the preschool & the other is K. The preschool has less "story" to it; it has more games, songs, & a zillion printable activities (we haven't done them since the kids computer isn't hooked up to a printer-- another thing they might break). Some games are matching letters or shapes, while harder games have the child pick the right word for the sentence (if you move your mouse over words, etc, the sentence/word is read for the child). Both my kids like teh ... Read More:

Reader Rabbit has been around for a long time and it is a truly wonderful system to help children improve their reading skills. What could be better than playing a game while you learn? I used it when my children were growing up and now I'm providing Reader Rabbit for my granddaughter to help her retain and improve her reading skills over the summer. It is a win-win situation for the parent and the child. The game is plug and play so your child can play without your assistance.

I received this item and realized that I was not able to play it. It Doesn't play on my computer which I thought it would. I have two different types of iMac computers and it doesn't work on either one. I am a little disappointed.

On OS X 10.3, it worked when we installed it and has refused to run since then. No customer support we can find. I don't feel bad criticizing them because encoresoftware.com, listed in their troubleshooting guide, isn't even on the web any more. Why are they selling this crap in the Apple Store?
And the interface design is laughably bad. It took us quite a while to find the lessons--they're under "Typing Tournament"

Reader Rabbit Toddler is the best thing since disposable diapers!!! It doesn't matter if your child knows how to use a computer mouse at all. All they need to be able to do, is beat up your keyboard with their fists, and all kinds of neat things happen right in front of their eyes. The best part, is they eventually realize that they are making these things happen by manipulating the mouse or keyboard.
There are lots of great, bold colors & lots of different sounds. There are stories and songs, coloring, sorting, etc.
The worst parts are trying to get the child away from the computer long enough to write a review or pay a bill, and keeping the page open. If the page accidently closes, you'll have a fight on your hands, trying ... Read More:

I read some of the reviews before purchasing this $5 program. I understand that you get what you pay for, but none of the reviews prepared me for what I would receive. The application seems to assume you already know the correct spelling of the words. On lesson 1, you're taught hello, goddbye, etc. What you are not given is the correct spelling while in the lesson. Compare this to the $400 Rosetta Stone application, and you see that it is necessary for a newbie to the language to be able to see what it is they're repeating. I have both Rosetta Stone and this application. I'll stick with RS as it is far more intuitive while still acknowledging that level one users need to be able to read and write as well as speak the language. I would use this ... Read More:

I've had this I Spy for a long time. I played it a lot and had a lot of fun, and I still like to play it once in a while. My favorite level is "Block City After the Paper Hurricane". I like it because it's the most challenging level of all of the Block Cities, and I like challenges! My Mom thinks the I Spy books and computer games are a great value for the money, because my friends and I play them over and over, and the images are spectacular!
