I'm only up to lesson 11 but am learning Spanish faster than I ever thought possible. I knew NO Spanish, and was very mediocre at French in HS >30 years ago. The emphasis on listening and speaking is just what I needed, as this was the most difficult for me.

Looking at the reviews,my problem is not a rare occurrence.i received this cd-rom software that was defective. I emailed them 3 times but never got a response. they only responded after a complaint was put through amazon. I wouldn't buy anything else from oc tech.

Pajama Sam 2 Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening

It's an adventure game, and each time you play it, the necessary items to gather are not always in the same place. It takes logic skills to solve the game. An adult can typically go through the game in about an hour (yes, it's kind of fun). For my children, each of them as they enter that phase of childhood have enjoyed the Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt, and Freddi Fish series.

Thunder and Lighting Aren't So Frightening is a very creative story and reminds me a little of the book Sector 7 (which I also recommend for children this age).

I bought this product for my son, who was studying a foreign language in middle school. He did not find the software helpful and stopped using it completely after about a month. Because the software was quite expensive, I decided to try to recover part of my investment by selling the package on eBay. Rosetta Stone made eBay take down the listing, saying it was a violation of their copyright, even though I was selling the original product. Rosetta Stone told me that I didn't really buy the product when I paid $400 for it; they said I was only buying a license to use the disks and that I could not transfer that license to someone else. Technically, that's probably what some fine print on one of the installation screens said, but it's an unfair ... Read More:

Love this product, take your time and it will stick. We purchased V3 levels 1 & 2, it has a very simple interface which allows you go to over certains areas multiple times so have fun and plan for some private as you will have to master your speech as you are working with excerises.

i'm not sure if it was just me or what, but all three computers i have tried it on, it didn't work very well. it crashed constantly. i got around it by saving my game a lot, but it was still annoying. if you look beyond the crashing, it is pretty fun, but it also installed without sound. given the fact that it is so cheap, i think it would be worth while for you to try it, but beware the potential bugs.

I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift. He loves it! The teaching style is more of a language immersion than merely textbook reading.

I'm trying to learn Swahili as I'm going off to Tanzania for 3 months. "Teach yourself Swahili" is really helpful for learning the language. Both the CD and book parts are good and compliment one another. Apart from learning vocabulary, the book teaches how the language is put together and the audio dialogues are useful for putting this knowledge into understanding. The book also has useful bits of information saying that certain words are used in certain areas of Africa. I'd recommend this book to someone who wants to learn Swahili and is just beginning.
