The software looks good and feels professional, yet when you try to delve into it, it bites you.

Software like this is supposed to make life easier. However this software seems extremely rigid in its approach and unintuitive. It doesnt predict common issues that are bound to crop up. If you want to resolve what seems like a simple problem theres usually no direct route to do it and you have to spend an hour tinkering and working around things.

Unfortunately typical Microsoft product I have to say, seems like they're more interested in crosslinking you to their websites and pay services than they are in providing you with a competant and truly customer orientated piece of software.

Peachtree Premium Accounting 2008

I will preface this by stating that I have never submitted a product review before, but feel so strongly about Peachtree Premium Accounting 2008 that I am submitting this review.

This is simply the very worst business accounting software I have ever used.

I am a finance professional by trade and the interface in this software makes little sense. There is no editable transaction ledger for non-cash accounts. For example, if your business has a credit card, you will enter each transaction (as a "check") while not being able to see other transactions. If you want to view the history of the account, you have to generate a report and if it doesn't reconcile, it is VERY VERY difficult to get to the erroneous transaction. The makers ... Read More:

I work as an accounts payable in a small business. Recently the president decided to update our QuickBooks sofware. He bought the 2007 version; which was new for me. That's why I bought the QuickBooks 2007 Step by Step Training and it's been very helful and comprehensive for me. This tutorial makes the learning easier and fun.

I bought this program thinking it would save a lot of time. Yes, it does once you've manually set up your state & local withholdings. But be prepared to shell out money each year to keep it operational even though the manual says the updates aren't mandatory. THIS IS FALSE !

The real problem I have with the product is that you need to buy a mandatory update each year ($125) in order to access the W2 forms for the current year. For example, I bought this in 2007 and ran my company payroll through it. Now that I want to print W2 forms for 2007 I HAVE TO BUY THE 2008 UPDATE - This is BS !! (bait and switch marketing).

So your real cost will be $165 PLUS $125 update just to use it in the current year.

Have been using Turbo Tax for close to 20 years, used Parsons Tax Edge first. The product has always worked well for me and it sure beats the old fashion paper and pencil method.
