For our small construction company this accounting software piece is a welcome relief. We have been using Bookkeeper since the 2005 release and the 2007 release brought a host of excellent improvements. This accounting software does thorough job costing, invoicing, payroll, check writing, 1099, 941, 940 tax form filing. It's very easy to learn and use and does a wonderful job. We've used peachtree, simply accounting, and quickbooks and find this to be our choice of the four -WOW! Yes that's a wow because it costs only $30 and payroll tax table updates only cost $35/year. H&R Block Taxcut 2006 Home & Business + State

My computer crashed right in the middle of preparing both a personal and a business (S Corp) return with this product. Fortunately, I had back-ups of the data, but needed to reinstall the software on a different machine. Having tried something similar with Intuit's TurboTax products a couple of years ago, I expected the worst (i.e., having to buy new copies, or at least pay to re-download the state forms)--so I was totally shocked when the reinstallations and re-downloads took only a couple of minutes and posed no problems.

As other reviewers have said, both programs are somewhat buggy so you do have to manually verify that calculations, etc., are correct. However, these products are no worse that the TurboTax products in that ... Read More:

Quicken 2007 Premier

The earlier reviews on this product scared the beejeepers out of me. I had to upgrade because Intuit was stopping support on the Quicken 2005 I was using. I would no longer be able to download stock prices, transactions from credit card companies, etc. It's their way of extorting more money out their users. They only provide 3 years of download support. Then you either upgrade or enter all the data manually.
Overall, the product has not been too bad. So far, I have not found one single feature I would have paid for that makes Quicken 2007 better that the 2005 version. The graphics a little better though - but that is inconsequential.
The upgrade was easy, it's stable, and the operation is very similar to 2005. It appears as if all the ... Read More:

a tax return will cost you anywhere from $100 to $400 for a basic tax advisor. So the price of this software is absolutely worth it.

QuickBooks Pro 2006 for Mac [Old Version]

I had purchase the simple start a year ago and it was easy to use, this version does not come with the flow chart system and has a lot of stuff that I don't need or want. Plus the banking doesn't work with Wells Fargo so that leave the 10 million of us banking with Wells fargo in the dark.

Intuit is unethically pretending Quicken Rental Property Manager (QRPM) is a supported product when it is not. For example, mileage rates up through 2005 are hard coded into the program (a very poor practice) so that tax results are incorrect for years after 2005. The Help section addresses this by saying "The rate changes periodically and is updated when you update your software." However, there has been no substantive update since 2005. (The update from 2.3 to 2.5 only permitted running this deficient software under Vista). There are other deficiencies (see QRPM forums). No phone or email support is available either!
