"Copy all of a disc or just the chapters you want." A quote from the
product description. I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I emailed
tech support. The reply was that my quesion could be answered only by discussing with a fee consultant. And---no copyright issues--just a straight forward ability to select only the tracks I want to copy from a DVD. That's the only reason I bought it. Very disappointing.

This software is ABSOLUTE garbage. It does not detect the ipod, the 'patches' are not valid, it is sheer garbage.. I bought mine at Best Buy, and after REPEATED attempts at contacting the very lacking (non-existent) customer service at Valusoft (my emails came BACK TO ME), I am seeing red...... I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

This entire experience has been infuriating. Never again!

Finale Allegro 2007

I recently purchased Finale Allegro 2007 and then updated to 2007b, which is *essential* if you are running Windows Vista. The company claims it is "fully compatible" with Vista, but even with the update, this software runs poorly on Vista (Vista Business version on my laptop). Finale is slow, it is difficult to control note placement even when you zoom in, and 16th and 32nd notes appear bunched together on the screen making them hard to read afterward (I don't know if it prints this way or not, as I haven't been able to finish even one lead sheet yet!) Also, there is no access to either the user manual or the tutorials from within the program--or, at this writing, from outside the program. I was skeptical purchasing this book, particularly since the reviews varied far and wide from other purchasers. Let me offer my humble opinion as a professional who makes a living recording, engineering, producing and writing in "the business".

First and foremost, I am neither an employee of WAVES nor am I associated with it's publishing division OPEN MIX. Secondly, I purchased this product as a marketing tool to determine what other types of media existed to help train engineers on specific software platforms, plug-ins, etc. Finally, I was already quite familiar with the precepts of audio engineering, having received multiple degrees from universities on this subject matter.

Apple iLife '04 [Old Version]

When I received my iBook 12", I was extremely excited to bust out the iLife applications. I had heard a lot about them, and played around with them at Apple Retail Stores.

I was quite disappointed. It seems that in order to be "user friendly", Apple stripped some of the most important features. I am not a professional by any means, but some of the things that Apple removed were simply ridiculous.

iLife is composed of five main applications - iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, and GarageBand (new in iLife 04), which I will review separately below.

I upgraded from version 5 to version 10 last year. This product features two different software programs, the Music Studio and the MIDI studio.
The music studio functions like a recording studio, and provides easy editing of a multi-track recording, with intuitive, easy-to-use effects.
If you're used to dragging and clicking things in other computer applications, it's not at all hard to figure out how to do it in Music Studio 10. The features list is far more than one needs to easily record and remix in Music Studio 10. The Music Studio side offers a number of synthesizers and effects. the effects are easy to use. Tune Transfer for iPod

I would recommend buying the very latest ipod transfer software - not TuneTransfer.
I bought a used CD-ROM in July 2008, originally released 2006; but when I downloaded it into two separate PCs, neither failed to detect an ipod attached (even when I changed itunes settings to allow disk usage).

This tells me perhaps the latest version of itunes disables this software to detect the ipod, when attached - thus, not allowing transfer of songs.

...If itunes really wanted ipod memory to be transferrable, they would allow it. What they DON'T want is for songs purchased from itunes to be transferrable to any other computer, which could diminish download sales.

My Miracle Piano System keyboard died so I tried this software, but it is not fun like the Miracle System, which is out of production now. It just seems to be tedious and limited in my use of it. I'm shopping for something that is fun to use.
