I like the exercises and drills, they're helpful.
This is good for those who already have a basic knowledge of Music Theory though. I would suggest The Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory, 2nd Edition (The Complete Idiot's Guide) and if you like softwares, how about Music Ace Deluxe, that one's fun for kids to adults. There's a trial version to see if it's compatible with you. This one has a trial version too, I'd suggest to check that too.
I do feel this should be cheaper, it's helpful but it has competition.

It's a great product, to be sure. It just takes a little getting used to. There will probably be plenty of roadblocks and a handful of bugs, as well as a lot of time spent on the help forums. It may prove to be especially frustrating for people coming over from Myriad Software's Melody Assistant program. But don't panic! All the abilities and bells and whistles are there; they just take a little tracking down to get to.
The sounds are also far superior to Melody's sounds. But the one drawback I found particularly annoying was that you couldn't preview the sounds before you assign them to a staff. You have to build the staff and write the music first, *before* you get to hear what it sounds like.
The teacher, Maestro Max, talks and he's encouraging and motivating.
It's animated, you hear the notes, it introduces classical scores from Verdi and others, it has engaging, challenging yet fun drills and exercises that really help in ear training, learning music theory, and more.
Why can't other softwares and programs be more like this? I have Musition 3 Single User Student Edition for Windows, eMedia Earmaster 5 and Auralia 3 Single User Student Edition for Windows and they're all boring and dull compared to this (although I kinda like Auralia because it goes to more advanced drills and exercises) But yes, why can't they all be fun like this one?
It would be nice if Music Ace does the more advanced lessons ... Read More:
I got this package on Ebay for a killer deal and I am glad I did not pay the full price for it.
The strength of the package is that it allows you to view your progress and gives your instructor some degree of control. The weakness is that the program is very confusing to work with and not user friendly.
On the menu you have to choose from a drop down list of activities. The program gives you NO idea of where to start. Which activities should I do first?
The book cancels out some of the confusion. However....the book should have been more practical and more easier to read...too rigid as one person said.
I would not suggest this for the absolute beginner.

Copy DVD '09 is very easy to use. Although, there is one problem that I have been having. When I make a copy of my favorite tv show, it doesn't copy it correctly. Somehow it skips the first episode and plays the second episode twice. Also, I just tried to make a back-up of the new movie "Zohan," the copy plays the movie but not the sound. I am still getting used to it. I have only had this software for a month. But these are the only problems I have had so far. I would recommend this product, you can't copy every disc, some just have too much protection to get past.
If you have EXDrummer and you just need to rock harder, this will do it. However, while the number of cymbals is pretty good, the number of drums is limited. You only get one set of toms, and if you are looking for the monster 80's arena rock thunder snare you wont find it here. The snares are more of the dry indie metal type. You can up set double kicks. Think early Metallica or even Rush.

Reviewing a program like Media Edit Pro is a tough slog. Not because of any shortcomings of the program but because it was completely different from what I expected. Perhaps a brief description of the review process is in order. What I review is stuff that interests me, and I'm interested in Movies. So when I saw a press release for Media Edit Pro I thought "Hey, Here's a movie editor more robust than iMovie but cheaper than Final Cut Express, that's something I'd like to try." A couple of e-mails later and I had a copy. I installed Media Edit Pro (which is growing tiresome to type so I'll truncate the title to MEP in future references) with no problems. then I downloaded and installed the update. Still a problem free experience. Found some footage to play with ... Read More:
A very good product for a very good price, compared to prices for other score writing softwares. I use it primarily to copy old and totally scratched up scores, that have been used by lots of folks, and overloaded with remarks and comments.
I am a total novice at score writing and music studies, and while the very first page took me hours to get done, the 2nd one was already a breeze. After doing 5 scores, I hardly need to consult the Help files anymore, it is just like typing. I put on my headset and can hear each note I type into the score. I love this product, it allows me to hear my score played, which is extremely helpful, since I just started to learn music theory and playing an instrument. I learnt the notes by copying scores, I can play back my score ... Read More:

This is a great program for getting your home movies and favorite recorded programs onto your Video iPod. Simple and easy to use. Those that rated it negatively were after a program they thought would circumvent copy protection which this program doesn't allow. Of course there are ways to get around this, i.e., loading AnyDVD prior to starting Video Vault...which, of course, may be illegal in many countries and frowned upon by the MPAA ;).
