Maybe I should be more charitable than 3 stars for el cheapo bolts, for el cheapo crossbow pistols. These little crossbow pistols are a lot of fun for the money, but the two styles of bolts available for them aren't very durable.

THE CONS: The fins (the black part in the photos) on these "aluminum" bolts are a very cheap, brittle plastic that break off easily.

THE PROS: The aluminum shaft version is about half again the weight of the plastic shaft version, with the weight balanced toward the front of the dart. They fly straight and group well at up to about 50 feet. By comparison, the all plastic with metal points (which also break easily) are all over the place and don't group at all. Can't beat the price and it's very accurate.....However: It has a HAIR trigger......and the safety does nothing to prevent firing: don't rely on it.

1. INHERANTLY DANGEROUS: unlike guns, which store its energy in chemical form until released by explosion....a crossbow stores MECHANICAL energy ready to be released at all times when cocked!!!

2. NOT FOR KIDS OR INEXPERIENCED SHOOTERS: I have been practicing archery for years, but the first time it goes off unexpectedly will scare the heck out of you. It has quite a bit of force behind it and IS capable of maiming or killing someone so be careful and NEVER point at a person. ALWAYS POINT IT DOWNRANGE OR BE SORRY!!!

PSE Buckeye 62" Wood Take-Down Recurve

I purchased this bow as a starter bow for my husband. This is a great bow to work on form and to get started with target archery - it's priced just right. We went with 35# - perhaps a bit on the light side, but not a bad start for a beginner.

The downside, the bow has a slowly progressive twist to the top limb after only 1 season shooting, and it tends to "stack" a bit. To be fair, it's possible a slight over-draw is contributing to the twist. Also, watch the servings on the stock string.

For the money, if you're just getting started in target archery, or just want to try it out, this bow is good value for the money. Hubby is now addicted to archery and ready to upgrade. Mission accomplished!

This 12-pack is a great deal for the price. However, I was hoping that the bolts would come with threaded or screwed-on heads instead of glued-on heads. The threaded version holds up much better for longer use. Unfortunately this version of the pistol bolts came with glued-on heads.

Mohican Quiver

I bought this for my son to carry his arrows in, hoping to have something that could either attach to his belt or be slung over his shoulder. This quiver works hanging from a belt but is not set up as a shoulder quiver, now would it work as a ground-standing arrow holder. For the price it is acceptable, but nothing to specially search out.
