OnGuard Bulldog DT 5012 Bicycle U-Lock and Extra Security Cable

I've had this lock for over a month now and overall, it's been a good experience. I haven't had any of the key problems mentioned by some other reviewers (I did notice that the key will not turn smoothly if the lock is loose - so, if you want your key to turn well, make sure that the bar and the U are flush and fully engaged.) The lock is definitely pretty heavy-duty, and excellent for that old trick of "park next to a nicer bike with a cable lock." So far I've not had any problems leaving my bike downtown in a fairly thief-heavy town (Santa Cruz, CA).

OnGuard PitBull MINI DT 5008 Bicycle U-Lock and Extra Security Cable

I bought the lock about three weeks ago and use it regularly. I had expected the cable to be the thin kind that can be used to secure seat post but find it very useful anyway. The U-lock can barely attach the bike frame to a post, so the cable is useful to secure the front wheel. I know that cables do not offer much protection but a thief would only get the front wheel by cutting the cable and the risk of being caught for such a small payoff is probably a deterent. I take the seatpost with me.

OnGuard Bulldog STD 5010 Bicycle U-Lock

I've only had my lock for a few weeks, but so far it is great. Shipped promptly. The attachment that holds the lock on the bike is pathetic-- definitely plan on having some sort of additional support to hold it on. The key fits pretty easily most of the time, sometimes needs a little jiggling, but opens beautifully once it's in properly. Overall, quite happy with product, especially given reasonable price.

I used this lock to lock my wheels to bike racks, and I used a u-lock on the frame. After about a month at college the cable was cut. Nothing was stolen thanks to the $10 U-lock I had used to attach the frame to the rack. The cable was long enough for me to lock both wheels to just about anything.

Excellent cable to be used as secondary (you should really never lock your bike with cable only). it's a bit longer than i thought, but that's my fault. Sturdy and well made, if you have this around a tire for a supplemental measure, trust me, no one will bother trying to take your wheels. Good Product!

OnGuard Rottweiler 5026 Bicycle Armored Lock

I researched different locks. Though this one is large and quite heavy, it is a great lock. So far, so good. I throw it in my backpack or basket when I am riding and it is long enough to loop around lampposts and through my tire and frame of my bike. They provide many, many keys as well.

OnGuard Terrier Combo 4 5061 Combination Cable Lock

You reset the combo by twisting the end. While locking or unlocking your bike, the you can accidentally twist the end and unintentionally change the combo. That is what happened to mine. I used it a few times, then once when trying to remove it from my bike, the combo I set stopped working. I have no idea what the new combo is. I'll have to cut the lock off my bike.

Buy a different lock.

I live in a city where there is an unbelievable amount of bike theft. When I got my new bike, I knew I had to go to extra lengths to protect it. After doing a lot of research, this lock stood out as the most effective at preventing theft. It is nice to know I don't have to worry about my bike. Thieves just pass on by, looking for easier pickings.

After reading a blog entry reviewing several bike locks, I was convinced that this OnGuard Bulldog u-lock was the one for me during my college days in the Midwest. Through several seasons now, the lock has proved its durability and the extra keys have been really handy. (Just don't rely on that keylight!) My only concern would be about the lock's performance in freezing wet weather. A few times, water snuck into the locking mechanism and froze into an annoying problem. Granted, I didn't keep my bike in covered storage, and the ice wasn't anything my grip and twisting strength couldn't overcome with a minute of diligence. I like this lock and I think it got the job done well.
