WAVEMASTER FREESTANDING BAG

I think the best option is an old-fashioned hanging bag, but I've recently moved to an apartment complex. I don't think the landlord would like me hanging a 100lb bag in my living room, so I opted for a freestanding bag.

First I bought the Everlast Freestanding Heavy bag. The bag has a flex-spring thing in the middle that absorbs some of the punching power. This makes the bag recoil from a punch and it lets you do some very nice combinations. However, the bag still slides around my carpet, and I constantly needed to move it back to the middle of the room.

Unfortunately the design of the equipment is very bad. The metal upper half (the part you punch) is connected to the plastic lower half by 2 metal bolts. I worked ... Read More:

Everlast Inflatable Punching Bag

i had tried this product as a substitute for a therapeutic dummy as an anger management tool as it's one of the few i found under $80 without a face but it is not sturdy enough at the seams to tolerate children. The more mature teenager did just fine and used the product correctly and it's still going strong.

I'm not too big on free standing punching bags but the BOB is something special, a separate class all it's own. The rubber skin more closely emulates punching a real person than a regular heavy bag. It is comfortable to strike for long periods of time without requiring hand protection yet holds up to serious abuse from fists, feet, elbows, knees, or whatever you want to hit it with. Furthermore, the human-like shape really facilitates targeting. If you are purely a traditionalist you'll probably want a makiwara (striking post). If you're willing to embrace the best in a modern training tool, however, this mannequin bag makes a great investment.
