This is a well built deadbolt lock. Built strong; and easy to use. One thing to note if you are installing in a 1 3/8 inch door; or a door with an existing bore for the latch -- The latch requires a 1 inch bore.

The bypass key is a must if you are locking an area where you have no other ingress. Requires a 9V battery which is hidden under the inside cover. The battery is included!

Can be programmed to lock by pressing the top button and turning the exterior thumb twist; or it can be set to lock only when a code is entered.

The inside cover plate screws into a baseplate; no extra holes in the door are required. Fresh install requires a 2 1/16 and a 1 inch hole-saw.

The bolt may be a little bigger than standard, but that's good, right? The install is almost like a regular lock... no big deal. The operation is rock solid. It didn't mention it in the product description but I believe this lock is bump resistant. (The lock mechanism is not directly connected to the cylinder unless you insert the key and apply pressure.)

This was definitely worth it, especially since more "bump proof" locks are ~$120 anyway. You can't beat a Schlage!

I purchased the Schlage electronic deadbolt to allow entry into our house in case I didn't have a key with me. It works very well. Only drawback that I see is that it needs to be placed on a solid door without a glass panel as the lock has a lever on the inside that operates the deadbolt. There is no option for key locking from the inside, only the lever. Locks only keep honest people out, so it's better to have a deadbolt that is key lockable from both sides if you have an exterior door with glass panels. No need making it easier for a thief to get in than is necessary.

It's a nice product, but it's still in it's infancy. If you expect for the finger scan to work as well as the finger scan on your laptop or some professional scanners in large companies don't bet on it. This is not my first time using a finger scanner and it took me a while to develop a proper swiping technique to satisfy the lock. Not only that you have to position your finger just right if you do it too slow or too fast it won't work so you have to repeat 3 or 4 times to get it to open (older people or kids will definitely have a problem with it). It's a nice product to have as an emergency if you ever forget your keys and get locked out of your house but for an every day use it's just too much hassle (I found that i can reach to my pocket and pull ... The only set back is that I needed to make a difficult adaptation to our local hardware. No problem installing it with a non-English speaking wood smith and the product works amazingly well. Saved the family the need to carry bulky "keychains" and loosing keys.
