My husband took longer than expected to put this together. We made the longest rack suggested, but the weight was too much. We propped it up with some bricks, and it is fine.

We used to sets--I'm glad we did, as you will probably find you have more wood than you thought.

As a girl who is bad at putting things together, I wouldn't get this. However, the price was great and the item just right for what we needed.

(Written by Angela's husband) This John Sterling shelving system is great. It's very strong and easy to install. I have now covered all walls in the garage with shelves using this system. I actually prefer the 14 inch brackets with a 16 inch shelf. I space the standards at 24 or 32 inches, depending on the stud spacing (I have both 24" and 16" studs). I then buy a piece of 3/4" plywood at Home Depot or Lowe's and have them cut it into six pieces which are 16" x 48" each. It's the least expensive, strongest, and easiest shelving system that I found. Two more great points: It doesn't need the floor for supports so I have floor space underneath the shelves unlike other shelving units. Also, I can go all the way up the wall and take advantage ... Couldn't find these in my neck of the woods anymore. Great brackets for my shop in the garage. Real heavy duty and easy to mount. You can't find a 22" bracket at your building supply stores. As usual Amazon had access to them and got them to me quickly

These are the best shelves for shops and garages. They are incredibly strong and easy to install. I have two rows of them all along one side of my garage, the 11" 300lb types. I used 2x12s for the shelf boards and then stacked those big plastic tubs filled with seasonal items and other heavy stuff. I use them in my shop as well to store stock lumber, and I'm sure I have exceeded the rated weight limit, but they hold up fine. Highly recommended.
