I'm sure this would have been a good product, but the appropriate surfaces were not well explained on the package. This product cannot be used on stained wood with no varnish. It may be obvious to some (and makes sense after thinking about it) but it didn't specifically list "stained wood" until you open the package. It does say that it is not for unfinished/unvarnished on the outside, but I didn't consider the bare-stained wood. And I'm sure the heat from the hair-dryer wouldn't be good for the stain. I'm glad I didn't try it out.
Had it been clear from the start, I would not have purchased the inappropriate product.
All my windows are non-standard sizes. This over size patio length allows me to cut down to the size I need with out having to tape two of the standard size plastic together. I do wish Amazon had this in the warehouse earlier than NOV. I live in Chicago and needed the plastic by mid OCT. The price is much better than buying it at the hardware store. It works great to cut down on drafts.

Every year I say I'm going to cover the windows and every year I don't. This year however I looked on Amazon and found the right product for the right price. I even got the nine pack which worked out well because I turned one sheet sideways and used it to cover two smaller kitchen windows.
I followed the directions and cleaned the surface once with cleaner and when I was ready to apply the tape I cleaned again with Alcohol. The first one was a little crooked (but still worked) but by the time I got to #4 it was smooth sailing.
I can feel them move slightly in the breeze so I know that they are keeping the cold out. I would definitely recommend this product.

1. Measure the tank's height. Mark the foil side with a magic marker, then cut the wrap on the floor. It's near impossible do it with the wrap on the tank. There are foil tabs to secure the wrap to the top of the tank . . . make sure you cut the correct side. I found that scissors worked just fine to cut it.
2. My gas water heater is only thirty gallons. The width of the wrap did not need adjustment - it just fit. The description says it fits up to 60 gallon size. I can't see how. Some other reviewer with a larger tank will have to comment on this.
3. Use the measurement of the tank's height and pre-cut a length of tape this size. Next, cut four 6" pieces - these will be used to tape the sides of the wrap together. ... Read More:
I spent an afternoon installing the Frost King for large windows, and initially was very happy with the results. I cleaned the edges of the windows, waited for them to dry, applied the tape, used a hairdryer to increase the stick factor, and waited 15 minutes before applying the sheeting. I only applied the tape on the metal window casing as it says to not apply on painted plaster and that's all I have around my windows.
However, within a few hours, the doublesided tape was pulling away from the casement in several areas on all three of the windows. I had to try to tuck it around and stretch it to the nearest surface that it would reach, as once you shrink it, it isn't unshrinking. Now at least 1/3 of the sheeting has pulled away from ... Have used this product for years and it works great.
I have awning windows which have a second sheet of glass over the pane but it's such a poor seal that they are really single pane windows. If I don't use this plastic the windows frost and sweat horribly all winter which destroy the sash and frame.
These keep the window frost free all winter - no moisture problems.
Make sure the 2 way tape is tight, no gaps.
Make sure you get the plastic down with no overlaps.
Put a small half inch piece of scotch tape over the curtain screw holes before you rehang the curtain rod so that the plastic doesn't tear.
I heat from the edge in to the center to get rid of corner puckers.
