Petzl E47 PS Tikka Plus Four-LED Headlamp, Soft

Inspired by a fellow visually-impaired photographer on Flickr ([...]), I went to my local outdoors store and bought this LED headlamp, the Tikka Plus, from Petzl. The headlamp is great for reading! I have been using booklights to supplement ambient room lighting for a while now, but have never been satisfied. My eyesight forces me to hold the book quite close, so these booklights are often obstructed by my own forehead. While the headlamp is not perfect, it is a significant advance in convenience and quality.

Personally, I would prefer a more diffuse light and one with more low intensity options. The light is designed to throw a wide beam outdoors or in caves, so the light hitting a page a few inches a way works more like a spotlight. ... Read More:

We recently had a power outage and I got to use this little light for a few days. It did a great job, lasted a very long time on each charge and put out a respectable amount of light for it's size.

Very versatile and useful--can be hung, spiked to the ground, clamped to anything or simply stand on horizontal surfaces. I like it that it's 250 watts instead of 500, not so dangerously bright and scary-hot to the touch as the common 500 watt units are. Would highly recommend this worklight. Very clever tool.

Black and Decker VEC192 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight

This is one of our best investments now that we live on 8 picturesque acres in NE PA. We've seen all kinds of night animals from deer to owls, bear and even a bobcat. This spotlight works better than we ever expected. The only drawback is the 48 hour charge that is required before use. Other than that we are extremely happy with our purchase!

The nature of my job includes doing security sweeps of commercial aircraft in the morning hours and holding a flashlight versus the handsfree one makes the job a smoother one. The LED lights give off enough light to complete our task in a more efficient manner. Hats off to the inventor for this remarkable tool.

You usually get what you pay for. This case is no exception. I LOVE this headlamp. It's easy to turn off/on when it's on your head. The tilt adjustment stays where you set it. Very easy to readjust the tilt while it's on your head. Bright enough for having to get around in the dark.

I had the impression this Fluorescent Worklight was on mini-tracks and could move around like a mini-tank with a remote wire when you can't move it by back muscle. Well, just be aware, you have to lug this SOB everywhere. Eventually a concrete slab fell on it. Totalled it just like that. Built like a horse, my [blank].

Streamlight 75014 Stinger Rechargeable Flashlight with Charger, Black

I just got this light and could not wait to test it against another very popular rechargeable flashlight I own that sounds like NAG light. The Stinger is less than half its size, weight and the Stinger is much brighter and gives a more directed beam. I compared them the other night in the rain behind my house in the woods and it is now my favorite light.

Streamlight 85001 Scorpion 2-Lithium Xenon Flashlight, Black

I have evaluated lots of different flashlights including Maglite, Surefire, LEDs, etc. Flashlight technology has advanced from bright Krypton bulbs to brighter Halogen bulbs to super bright Xenon bulbs. The LEDs (light emitting diodes) are energy saving but produce a bluish white cast rather than an incandescent white. The Scorpion flashlight is the best buy among the bunch. It is reasonably priced. The replacement Xenon bulb is not expensive whereas the Surefire replacement bulb is an expensive entire reflector unit. The Scorpion comes with a spare Xenon bulb located underneath its reflector head. These tactical flashights use two 3 volt Lithium batteries.
