I'm not a professional woodworker, but I feel like one when I'm using the Incra 1000SE Miter Gauge. Take my advice, when you make the decision to step up to a good table saw, go ahead and order this miter gauge. You will be glad you did!
The sliders work very good. The instructions for mounting work good and allowed a perfect mounting of the sliders so that the table saw sled moved perfectly parallel
to the saw blade.
This miter gauge is heavy dudy, is strong and hefty. I like that it has teeth and a pointer that fits perfectly in. Oh! by the way one of my incra miter gauges teeth was broken off, didn't like that but kept it because it didn't affect acuracy. Adjusting the pastic rings was very dificult, I though i was going to break it but it held. The bar itself is to short to use with 12 in width wood board or more on my bosh table saw. Its an improvement but i'm still going to shop around for a longer bar miter gauge.
This is a neat gadget to draw a line parallel to an edge at a specific dimension. As they recommended, I used a mechanical pencil, .5mm, and the lead just fits right into the 'tiny' holes. There are so many holes, you will be sure to find one dimensionally close to what you need and much easier to use than trying to pencil mark off the end of a ruler and square. AND this T-Ruler is 100% repeatable rather than using the end of ruler, trying to set the ruler and tighten to repeat what you set earlier to use in your project. The fine lead repeats its mark so much better than using a wood pencil tilted against an edge guide. The holes are many and very small. By putting masking tape or a paper label on top and marking/punching through the tape, ... Read More:
The ruler is a wide, very thin piece of spring metal that has holes and slots in it every 1/64th of an inch. There's a T bar at one end that allows you to put the ruler up against a board or any surfact with a raised edge and meadure precisely, using a standard thin-lead mechanical pencil. If you guide the T bar along the edge and leave the pencil in a slot, you can mark a line that's exactly parallel to the edge, and the meaurement is perfectly repeatable because of the accurately placed slots in the metal rule. It works exactly as advertised and the accuracy fully justifies the price.
A couple of cautions: The rule is very thin, so you have to handle it gently to avoid putting a permanent bend in it. You shouldn't put anything ... Read More:
This tool has been great for setting blade height on my table saw and router table. I also use it frequently for making repeatable measurements in from the edge of a workpiece. This is one tool where the potential uses really are limited by your imagination.
In spite of its rather plain plastic appearance, this tool provides all of the accuracy that you would expect from an Incra product. It has also proved very durable, surviving several falls from table height, and saw dust and pencil marks are easy to clean off of it.
IINCRA Makes everything accurate and it's built to stay accurate. The entire design and engineering concept of the protractor makes it worth the money spent on it. It's easy to make accurate markings with a pencil (.5 MM Mech Pencil works great). What more can I say about INCRA they are in the accuracy game for woodworking (Works with metal as well)
Incra Marking rule was very easy to use and saves marking time a lot compared to use regular rule to mark on the wood.
Quality of the product also looks fine but I could see some kind of stain like thing on the surface of the rule.
It seems to came from some kind of etching process while engraving the numbers and lines on the rule and it doesn't affect the usability of the product at all.
However, it would be nice if the incra controls the quality of their products more accurately.
Overeall, very satisfied.
I have no way to test this tool except to use it to calibrate my tools and if the woodworking job comes out perfect then I know this tool was dead on for what I use it for. I have 4 Incra guaranteed squares(5" square, 5" 45 degree, 7" square, and 7" 45 degree) and absolutely use them religiously to calibrate all my tools (table saw, jointer, planer, miter saw, band saw, drill press, circular saw, router table, etc.). While they are expensive I learned in an engineering class that you have to pay more for better tolerances and the expense here is well worth it over a cheap square. Yet there are more expensive squares out there and the Incras are "guaranteed" so if they are not perfect they will make it perfect. If you purchase these I don't see ... Read More:
It took a while to set the Miter5000 up. It assumes everyone has a right tilt blade, but has simple instructions on how to convert it to a left tilt blade. Once set up the accuracy was unbelievable compared to factory miter that came with my Rigid 10" table saw. When cutting outside corners for cabinet molding the stop made fast accurate repetitive cuts.
The only con making cuts on one side you can't use the fence support, if it is a large sheet of wood you can accomplish this by flipping the piece over and cutting the angle opposite.
