People buy products like this because they're more rugged than putting a sock over the outlet pipe to filter lint out of the water and keep the sink from getting clogged. The only problem is the mesh is still too large, so lint still clogs the sink.

I bought this unit without being able to see one in person, so I wasn't quite sure what I would be getting. I wanted stainless, but didn't feel like paying $1000+ for a hood. I am happy to say it is a very attractive unit, well built, easy to install, and works reasonably well.

I say reasonably, and I don't have anything to compare it to, so take this with a grain of salt, because at the lower speed settings, it will not draw air/steam from the front burners of the stove. When set to high speed, it does a good job, and does direct everything coming off the stove top up the flue.

Every 2-3 years I replace the stainless steel burner covers with new ones as the old finally get stained or marred. This set by far is the nicest looking with a flared edge and nice spin finish.

They look good, the color is consistant, They match everything in my kitchen very well. They do cover up a multitude of sins when I don't have time to clean the burners. They are not idiot proof, I do have to remind my husband to take them off BEFORE turning on the burners!!(this is my 3rd set!)
