Easy Heat RS-2 Roof De-Icer Control

The RS-2 supports only 1200 watts max but it does not say that anywhere including the Easy Heat web site. The installation instructions mention this fact. Not enough current for me - I have 1400 watts.

The sensor detects water. It does not detect ice or snow. So the ice must already be melting at the sensor location before the de-icing cable is turned on. One hopes that that happens before the ice dam causes water entry into your house.

I sent it back.

We have a large kitchen granite countertop, travertine master shower floor, one marble bathroom countertop, and one granite bathroom countertop and so we use this stuff A LOT! I think that it works really well and has a a fresh scent. I did run into some problems with my shower floor when I could not get the tiles looking clean while using the product. I thought that it was because of soap scum and I called the customer service number for StoneTech and spoke to an extremely helpful representative, George, who talked me through the process of cleaning my tiles. This is the best price on this product I could find (even the ususally dirt cheap Northern Tool catalog sells this for over $300 plus shipping!). Unit is plenty strong for me as I was just putting up 1/2 inch 8ft sheets. How it would do with a 12 ft 5/8 inch sheet I couldn't say. Three men could install drywall faster, but if there's no help, this thing is invaluable. A helper finessing the sheet into final position while you start a few screws would still be suggested.

The ladder was very easy to install and works perfectly. The door on the other hand was more difficult and was made harder to install and work because we have a funky opening space (which is why we had to get this ladder to begin with). But, overall I would recommend this product to people with odd shaped attic openings or tight spaces, just be prepared to have to fiddle with the door to make it work properly. Also, make sure that you get a thin piece of plywood for the door because the latch hardware was to small to fit the 1st piece of plywood we tried to use.

This thing is awesome. I had picked up one like it (knock off) at target for a hundred bucks and after using it and scaring the crap out of me when I was up high I took it back and ordered this one. Its sturdy and you feel safe. Still a little wobble due to it telescoping but not bad. Well designed! Fits in my hatch back sports car.
