Install of the detector was easy and the product is great. Voice alert tells you what kind of alert (either smoke or carbon monoxide). White color blends nicely with the ceiling. My only negative is that you have to twist the detector off of its holder an unplug the wires, in order to replace the battery.

This is one very handy tool at a nice price.

First, the display is backlit and very readable inside, but just a bit faint outside in bright daylight. It fits the palm of the hand better than other devices belonging to friends I've tried, and provides sturdy, dependable, and accurate information indoors.

I bought mine to check for temperature leaks for recaulking and insulating my house, but I am astounded to how useful it is indoors. First, in the kitchen, check that oven temperature or the outside of the loaf of bread you are baking. I bought mine for that, although remember what other writers have said about how large an area you may be measuring relative to the laser pointer.

First Alert CO600 Plug In Carbon Monoxide Alarm

This is the second First Alert Carbon Monoxide detector we've owned. The first went out in 6 months. This model went out in 1 month. The alarm kept going off. I moved a Kidde model into the room and it showed no carbon monoxide in the air. We chucked the First Alerts into the trash!

Xantrex Technologies 851-0400 XPower Plus 400-Watt Inverter

Several of the Xantrex inverters including this one have much looser frequency specs compared to the last generation of inverters which were typically 60 Hz +/- 0.01%. Many of the current crop of these inverters have 60 +/-4 Hz which is 60 Hz +/- 7%. To be fair, I've noticed a number of inverters made by other companies also have relaxed this spec. I measured the output frequency of several models and found their outputs to range from 58 Hz to 64 Hz. I didn't test to see if the frequency changed with temperature, input voltage, load, or other other factors. I suppose the reason for this change in specs is that these manufacturers are now cost cutting to the extent of eliminating a 30 cent quartz crystal. The frequency variation is most likely to ... The RAD Cycle Hoist is a decent product for a great price. Quality of construction is average, but for my use it is adequate. The RAD Cycle hoist allowed me to gain valuable garage space. Compared to my old wall mount bicycle storage hooks, the RAD Cycle Hoist is much easier to use. No more back-breaking lifting my bicycles over my head while I try to hook a tire. I would definitely recommend the RAD Cycle Hoist.

Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station

I bought this drill press to drill holes in 20 gauge nickel and sterling silver jewelry pieces. It has exceeded my expectations. If you follow the directions and let the tool do the work, you will be very pleasantly surprised that you can add such a handy device to your workbench for such low cost. My husband, an engineer, was pretty surprised at how good it is, too. However, I had to ask for his help with assembling it, because the assembly directions were not the greatest, and I'd never done anything like this before. He had no problem with it, though. The metals department where I've taken classes has a Gesswein setup with footpedals and a Foredom tool for a drillpress, and it is loud, hard to control, vibrates like crazy, and is kind of scary ...
