I highly recommend this game, especially for families. I have played with all of my children. The youngest is 4 and the oldest is 10. We have had a great time, and the children have all learned the game easily. You can use one side of the board to learn where all the pieces go, and use it with the cards. After learning, you can flip the board over and use the standard chess board. Even without the cards, the game would be worth the $13 I paid for it. With the cards, it opens up the world of chess to the entire family. The only downside is that my children argue about who gets to play me first each night.

Khet: The Laser Game

This is a favorite game to play with my 7 year old. Game is easy to learn yet is challenging at the same time. Great strategy game with the average length of play well within my son's attention span when playing best out of three.

Game would rate 5 stars if it wasn't for the lack of quality control. We did not have alignment issues but every mirror was filthy and had to be cleaned before attempting to play. Some pieces had to have the rough edges smoothed to fit properly in the board squares.

That said, I would purchase again and find the $40 price tag well worth it for such an innovative game.

Transformers Chess Set

We love chess sets at our house and I thought this would be an awesome addition. The pieces are just okay. They're decently durable unless you have smaller children visit and then I wouldn't leave the set out. Also, the pieces aren't real easy to differentiate, so only the super geeks (which we have some in our family) will be able to really play without inspecting the pieces before their move. Still, the set looks pretty cool on display. :)

Carrom Magnetic Travel Chess Set

This is a nice chess set for traveling, as you probably already read it has a cover and strong magnets but what i realized a couple hours after placing all the pieces was that when i removed them (the pieces) it left a mark that i think maybe comes from the adhesive of the magnets (makes the board look dirty), in the end i don't really mind since it i just my traveling set, but i would have loved to be warned . If you do happen to get this board i advise you to wipe the bottom of your pieces other wise every time you do get adhesive on your board and you wipe it off you risk bringing the chess board paint along with it (my board has some spots caused when i removed the adhesive, the black paint came with it. now you can see gold spots.). Nice looking but very light and not hardwearing as the traditional boards. Dont think this will last too long with the more serious players or slammers. Will do as an ornamental set.

I think this is a very nice set for the price. It's well constructed and the fact that you can just flip the board over, dump all the pieces in, and fold it in half means even my 9 year old can easily keep it put away when not in use (and not lose pieces). The pieces are smallish, but the description is accurate so you know what you're getting. I think it's a very acceptable and well-made first chess set.

Harry Potter Wizard Chess

Paper-thin box, flimsy folding cardboard board, and poorly weighted pieces on a crowded board. Save your money and get something better... this set's only selling point is it's link to Harry Potter -- and it's a tenuous link at best.

Well the only thing is the plastic, are not heavy, not for bliz game.
But for the price i can not punish, the price are nice.

This is a great set. My 7-year-old loves it, and the storage drawer is great for keeping the pieces away from the little ones and the dog. It's oversized and sturdy. Highly recommended.
