May 01, 2007 On the advice of my grandson, I purchased the game, 'Apples to Apples', and took it on our family reunion vacation. Ten of us played late into the night and we can't wait to get together to play it again. Great fun! While some cards were a tad over the heads of the younger players, the cards matched to them helped the boys understand the original card. It's less about competition than about laughing and sharing. It's good for all ages! |

Initially, I thought it was going to be okay. The instructions were decent, and it went together fairly easily. The first red flag was when I took the marbles out - they are plastic! Who ever heard of plastic marbles? Then, once we started to play, it became apparent how cheaply the game is made because the hippos kept getting stuck and had to be fiddled with to work again. That was when I first started considering returning it. The icing on the cake was when I tried to put it away. It was part of most vacations (back in days when there was typically no TV in vacation homes!). A small box, no batteries needed, you can play it anywhere. We played on the beach, at friend's houses, in the car... [By the way, this would be a perfect game to take on lengthy plane rides1] I was very excited to find the original cards, especially the French with the translation on the cards themselves.
