Very cute!! Well made. These blocks are just what we were looking for. Traditional style, but not too plain. I wish they were offered in pastel colors!

Good product, but a little more challenging than I had hoped for. While it's a good idea to present these words to kids at this age (1st-3rd), most of my students can barely read this stuff. We do it as a class, use it in writing, and then I make them use it in a sentence of their own.

Short version:
PROS
1. songs are not annoying! (and if you do get annoyed, you can change to music only mode so there's no more singing)
2. introduces languages, alphabet, counting, colors, cause and effect, you name it
3. will keep your baby's interest as he/she learns how to manipulate all the different components
4. after daily use for 4 months, we STILL haven't had to replace batteries!

CONS
1. my son has pulled it over on top of himself and that hurts
2. you may lose the little brightlings balls that come with it

Long Version:
We bought this toy for my son when he was just 4 or 5 months old. At first he could only bat at the little flowers on the side, but when he ... Read More:

Was a little hesitant to get this, thinking that flashy toys or dolls would be much more exciting, but she loves it.

This is a really engaging toy, especially for kids who love animals. It's not too complex so there's no sensory overload for younger kids, unlike some toys that try to do too much which bores my son pretty fast.

When you press the buttons, the names of the animals are clearly articulated, so my son learned really fast to identify them all. He also loves to imitate the sound of the various animals after the narrator.

One thing I would change if I had to design this toy (as with most any other toy), is to put the controls at the back, so fiddly kids' fingers won't keep interfering with them.

Key Words for High Achievement

I think there are two ways to inprove your vocabulary....or maybe three: 1) Read literature written with an "educated vocabulary" and either circle the new words or make a word list of the new words---books like those written by Charles Dickens "A Tale of Two Cities" or "David Copperfield" for example, or, 2) go through a dictionary from front to back 10 times for repetition---alittle hard for most of us to do, right?, or 3) Work through a work-book like this one that will teach you words selected by the author. I think this is a very good book for doing #3 above....use a word work-book. Two things are for sure, the ONLY way to learn new words and remember them is to put the words into your "long term memory". And, the only way for the average ... Read More:

It was very hard to find Russian blocks. These are great quality, even ordered two more as presents.

I searched for a year in Russia and couldn't find any blocks of equal quality. If you start distributing in Russia, you might make a lot of $$$.

I actually bought these flashcards because I loved the pictures and the French underneath. I took them off the ring and used 9 of them for artwork in my apartment. Having said that I did give the rest to my sister and we use them with her 3 year old. They seem to be working because she runs around calling her cat "Le Chat" which is adorable. The only complaint I could see is that they're made from cardboard and not really "baby proof". My sister also has a 1 year old who got a hold of them and chewed the corner of a couple and they didn't hold up as well as we would have liked. Overall we loved these cards.

My 19-month old daughter loves this book/cartridge for her leap pad. (Much better than she currently enjoys the book that came with the leappad or the Big Sister Dora software). She really enjoys the marvelous noises that Max & his wild things make (she will press the same object on a page 10 - 20 times before moving to another page or object). This will keep her engrossed for 10 - 15 minutes at a time before she gets bored or needs to ask for help. And it is a fun story that will grow with her (right now she pretty much ignores the narration).
