I have a leapster, and I like it. It's green, and it's got lotsa games inside it, and you can put more in the top of it. I got the doggie game, the one where you wash and pet your dog, and I like it alot, and I got the one where you make creatures, and make rooms for them to live in. I have a case, and you always have to make sure when you go somewhere, you have the game inside 'cause if you get someplace, and you only got the case, and no leapster in it, it's not as much fun. I like my mom's Pretendo (Nintendo), but mine has more games for a little boy. I think it's a good game for kids, My mom is getting me the Spongebob game for the car ride to Disneyland.

First - the first one I got didn't work. Very disappointing for the five year old in question, but these things happen. I didn't mark the rating down as a result - I comment on it only so that if a pattern emerges you have that information
Second - it doesn't come with a lot of games. She was tired of the games it came with about two hours later. On the other hand, being five, part of the thrill of having a birthday is all of the new stuff... two weeks later she continues to play those same games quite enthusiastically and they seem to be the appropriate degree of difficulty.
Third - if you are buying a leapster for a girl, get this one. It probably sounds silly to everyone else out there, but it really made it ... Read More:

My 4 year old thoroughly enjoys Pet Pals. There are so many things to explore and endless options. This an infinantly better version of the previously popular virtual pets from a few years ago. I almost didn't get it because the picture showed the old version rather than the Leapster 2 extended play version. However, when I opened the package, I was surprised to see the new version! Amazon has the best price I've found on this product.
I just bought the Leapster for my 5 y.o. daughter. I wanted something she could play with in the car that was educational. She took to it right away and has needed very little help from me. I bought 3 games-this one, Dora Wildlife Rescue, and Kindergarten. She begged me for this one, but it is very challenging. I tried myself to trace the letters and you have to get it right on. You can not stray from the line and you can not go too far or it has you do it again. It's very precise and frustrating even for me. Her favorite is the onboard games and Dora. She does keep trying though b/c it's Princess, it just doesn't hold her interest for very long. There are quite a few games on this one though, I think they are the same but have one for Cinderella ... Read More:
My son has had this game for a year now and it is by far his favorite Leapster game. I enjoy playing it too. It has multiple levels, several different tracks and tons of learning packed in. You have so much fun playing you don't realize you are being educated at the same time!
I just purchased this toy for my grandson. As I was trying it out I have found that it only goes up to 5 on the numbers, and "f" on the abc song. The music songs only play for about 5 seconds and then fades out. Is this the way this is supposed to work or did I get a dud? Please help so I know whether to send it back or not.

My 5-year old just started Kindergarten, but LOVES math (which they will only really cover a little of sometime this year). I bought this for him after his first day of school (he's "earned" a toy, and the one he planned on wasn't available). He choose this instead. He loves it. Its easy to use, even for one not too accustomed to computers, etc. He has had trouble with other electronic toys that try to get him to answer in X seconds, but loves that this tells him how long it took him, but doesn't pressure him to get it done in a certain time. The progression from easier to harder on the levels is great. He was "way past" some early levels, but he could do some mid-levels and still be challenged. We even discovered he could divide while he used this toy, ... Read More:

The 60 seconds for each minute are missing! Needs to have the 60 seconds marked on the clock with every 5th number (over the large hour numbers)emphasized so children can learn to count by 5's to learn, for example, 10:10. There is room to do this... and would make a good educational better.
