Great idea, good-sized knobs, but no match for a drooling toddler. It would be more appropriate for the wood to be painted directly instead of the use of a sticker. The hand jigsaw work also means that neither the circle nor the square fit very well when turned... making it less educational... unless it's worth learning that overpriced products made with cheap labor produces poor results.

My 3 year old daughter loves the Melissa and Doug floor puzzles and this one is no exception. She loves all the animals in this safari puzzle. We also have "farm friends", "Dinosaurs" and "Under the Sea". I would recommend them all. She can do "farm friends" and "dinosaurs" completely by herself, and can almost do "Under the sea".

I think the puzzles have many lessons to teach them. I like that she has to learn patience and to work through a task to achieve her goal...it's not instant gratification. Having said that she feels a great sense of accomplishment once it is completed.

I also feel these puzzles are very durable as we set them up on the floor and they get walked on all the time.

I was thinking about getting a globe as a gift for school age children and came across this puzzle globe. It is a current, working globe with the added bonus of being able to visualize each country as it is put together. The puzzle format is easy to use (the pieces are numbered on the back), but still a little challenging. It is also hard and durable, and can withstand pressure and falling (not a hard fall, I don't think). It would be nice to have some sort of back lighting for night use, but craft aficionados will find a way to remedy that. After I gave one away as a gift, I recommended it to a friend of mine as a gift for an 8 year old puzzle lover. It was his favorite gift ever and he finished it before the night was over!

My son will be 3 in a month and was drawn to the colors in the puzzle. I think this is a terrific puzzle for a 2-3 year old, but a 3-4 year old would be bored with it after awhile. The only complaint I have with the puzzle is the age range of 3-5. It should be 2 and up since the puzzle pieces are large and smaller children wouldn't choke on them. My son is a little old for the puzzle turning 3.

I was a little worried that this puzzle was a going to be to advanced for a four year old but once he got the boarder finished, he was on a roll. Great puzzle, beautiful colors !!

I am very amazed that my 3 year old daughter can do these puzzles. We started with the 48 piece barn floor puzzle and the third time we worked on it, she did it herself. So I pulled out these puzzles and after showing her the edge pieces to start with, she mastered them alone. She did not get frustrated even though there is no picture to use as a reference. These puzzles are such a great price too! Unbeatable value in a toy!

Both of my kids (2 & 5) love this puzzle. The 2-year-old (nearly 3) needs help finding pieces, but if I find her all of the pieces for a given engine she'll put them together. There is enough going on in it of different colors that it's an easy puzzle to put together in parts. It's a great toy to bring out when we need the energy level to go down for a little bit.

We bought the Melissa and Doug Puzzle Bundle for a friend of our daughter. I never saw a smile so big in my life. She loves puzzles and this was a huge hit!

I have other Melissa and Doug puzzles, and expected this one to be just as good. Mistake. The older ones had pictures painted on the wood board, this one has a paper picture glued on. The safety of your baby eating that paper and glue is unclear...

On top of this, the board is not solid wood, but looks like a few thin boards pressed together (sorry, don't know what it's called!) - the edges are very sharp, I tried to file the rough sides down and cut my hand!

Of course, no way my son is playing with this puzzle, so all its cuteness and pretty sound education value - along with my money, are going to waste. Think twice before buying.

This product does just what we wanted: inexpensive and will make it possible to move puzzles from the dining room table so we can eat! Less likely to lose pieces as well.
