The kids had fun with this but it is really hard to clean off. Plus the light-up effect only works in a really blacked-out room so they should have made the buttons light up. My daughter complained about that. Overall, it's a so-so toy compared to pencil and paper. Still, a neat effect.

this product is great in theory...

I bought this for my 7 year old son. He decided to make his story online and it took him DAYS to complete. He worked very hard on it. After he was done I filled out the "about the author" section and uploaded his picture. Well part that was eaten by their website or something. Because I rechecked it before I put the order through and it wasn't there. So I re-entered it and clicked all the way through to the checkout.

WE got the book (finally, since they send it via media mail)and it had many errors - it had strange shapes that aren't on the screen when you are editing the the book on the website. and it was missing the "about the author" section. My son was in tears. I emailed the ... Read More:

This is a great educational tool for children who are not writing well on paper yet. My three year old picked a piece of chalk and started writing her name and now even does well with paper.

Also great for older painters.

I did not wanna buy this toy but my son begged me and spent his birthday money on it. My son took it out of the box and tried to get the wrapping off of it. He had a hard time and the tube broke. Now we can never get the balls to come out of the tube. We must use our fingers to put pictures together. The pixos take too long to dry and they dont stay stuck together. They break apart easily. If anyone bumps the table the pixos fall apart and your picture is gone. I knew that I didnt wanna buy this toy. If it wasnt for my son wanting it, I would have stayed away. Maybe you should try to convince your kid to stay away so you dont make the mistake as I have as a parent. This product should have cost [...]. It is so cheapily made.

Definitely one of his favorite presents from his birthday party. No batteries necessary, how great is that? The "mud" is kind of like play doh that you press an impression into and fill it with alien "lava" It takes about 5 minutes (or a little more) to dry and he's been having a blast with it. There are quite a few 2 piece combination aliens to make. The combinations are really cute and seem endless! Lots of fun to make and then to play with the aliens and the spaceship.

I bought the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Easel Companion Set for my daughter's 3rd birthday and the Melissa & Doug Easel. I opened the paints and poured in all of the corresponding cups and she started painting and I started to smell thermaldahyde. The smell was horrible. This was the same smell of when I was in cadaver lab in college and I wore double gloves since it smelled so bad. I threw all of the paints away and the paintings into the outside garbage. I could still smell the thermaldahyde on the kitchen table where I put her painting after she was down. I washed the table with wood polish and kitchen cleaner and still smelled of thermaldahyde. My daughter who is very creative and not a big toy lover, just got this for her 4th birthday and it has already logged more play time than most any other toy around here. It is well made and my little 1 1/2 year old loves to sit and turn the sprinkle handle too. We've already gone through all four cans of play-doh that comes with it! Would recommend this to anyone!

Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush

This uses the Color Wonder Finger paint And Coloring Book. (Which to me isn't really 'mess free'. ) Add batteries to the paintbrush and the brush lights up the color of the finger paint as it is dipped in the color. The directions say 'clean the brush after dipping it into each color'!! For a 4 yr old they want to mix all the colors, and they still want to put their fingers in it, to finger paint.
The 'light brush' is neat when it lights up, but to put batteries in, having to wipe the brush clean after dipping into each paint, then having to wash the brush after each use, you might was well just get the plan old finger paints. I would have liked to know how this toy works before I bought it. As the ads suggest, there is something magical about the way the water reacts with the mat as the kids make their drawings, but the magic ends when we realized the drawings couldn't be erased. Nope, we had to wait on Mother Nature's timetable for the kids' artwork to evaporate. My son was dawdling around before bed last night, then confessed he was waiting for the mat to dry so he could play with it again. Nope. Bedtime, sorry. This morning the first thing he did was pour water all over it to see the whole rainbow appear in it's full-vivid glory. That's all the fun anyone will be getting out of it until it dries again.
