I bought the 62 piece set last Christmas for my then 3 year old, and it was an instant hit with him, his 6 year old brother, and their 10 year old sister. This is a toy that they pull out often, and when it's out, they'll play with it for a long time building all sorts of shapes. I would highly recommend the largest set, as it comes with pentagons as well as squares and triangles and there are a lot more possibilities. It's more expensive than some of the other magnetic toys, but safer if you have little ones in your home because the magnets are enclosed.

Discovery Exclusive Build Your Own Robot Kit

I purchased this toy for my 7 yr-old son for Christmas. He & his Dad had a great time putting it together, which took a little over an hour. It wouldn't work properly the first time, then they realized they put the arms on backwards. When they corrected the arms, it worked perfectly. My son played with it for hours. He's learned that if he makes the robot "dance", barely moving him back & forth quickly, the robot's eyes flash. I highly recommend it. It's worth the price.

My 8 year old son had been wanting this kit for quite some time. When he got it for two straight nights he sat in the floor and worked on it until it was complete. The kit is for ages 8-12, which at first I thought it would be too difficult for him to work. He only needed help with one small section of the kit. The cars when built really look realistic, unlike the "typical" lego cars. They almost are like Hot Wheels. I highly recommend this kit for any Lego enthusiast.

The Cars Building Set was purchased for my 5-year old grandson, Dominic, for his birthday. We had a wonderful time building and creating adventures for McQueen and Mater - so much so that his 4-year old brother, Cristian, couldn't resist joining our fun. In fact we combined this Lego set with their other set and brought Mac into the picture to create even more scenes. Highly recommended!

Fantasy Blocks

At six months she's a bit younger than the recommended age, but our daughter loves these blocks. We started with Haba's 'first blocks' set with her, which she also enjoyed. When we added these Fantasy Blocks, which are similar to the starters but with patterns and different shapes, it blew her mind. (Especially the way the conical one moves differently than the square ones do.) She loves them.

I would agree with some of the other reviewers that some of these blocks are small enough to fit inside your child's mouth, but I think they're far too large for them to actually choke on the block. I'm not worried about them. Then again, she plays with them at the dinner table with us, so she's really never played with them out of my sight, ... Read More:

Fun Rides 10 Model Building Set- 172 pcs

I bought this for my 6 year old grandson. He has played with it for hours. Great to carry on trips all parts store easily into it's own carrying case. I also bought two other models and he has built so many things from them. Great for the imagative child.
