My grandkids, just 3 and under 2, love these big blocks. They're a nice change from wood blocks. They're easy and fun to stack, and this set has enough to keep them busy. For serious building I'd buy another set. The kids throw them and knock them down, but the blocks are amazingly durable. A few were dented when one of the kids stood on them, but not badly. We're all happy with the purchase.
We ordered this along with some similar items to create a "game table" at a big formal family event. We asked the caterers to set it up in the banquet room, as an extra table, which we called "Game Zone," and it turned out to be a fantastic idea. Little kids, medium kids, big kids and adults all enjoyed it, and because the tiles themselves are sleek and geometric, the beautiful sculptures created only added to the look of our event. Plus, no balls to drop and roll around. A great toy and I recommend this idea for weddings, bar mitzvahs, family reunions, etc.

Bought this for my 3 year old niece. She uses this set everyday. The pieces are large and easy for a young child to handle. The other day she called to tell me that she was making a Lego castle for me :)
This is a nice product, my children enjoy playing with it very much. Lego's are certainly for children only, though. Adults should not be playing with them.

I bought this building plate for my granddaughter knowing its very serious limits. It is not rigid enough to support any Lego project unless it is placed on a flat hard surface. After it arrived I immediately glued it to a 15 x 15 inch board to make it usable. Why would Lego produce such a chintzy product?

My son went through the entire Lego website to pick out which Lego he wanted to purchase with his own money. He is a 6 year old who took a Lego engineering summer camp, where he learned to build all kinds of cool Lego figures. This is the kit he decided upon and let me tell you, he plays with it everyday for hours at a time. He would rather play with Legos than watch tv, which in today's world is fantastic. He not only put together the entire kit himself, but takes it apart and makes new figures out of the pieces. Some of the pieces are rather small, so he has needed my help snapping them together, but overall he is able to read the directions and put the pieces together independently. He is constantly showing me something new he has built. What ... Read More:

This truck unit comes with several pieces of equipment that should keep a fire-fighting kid happy. It includes a hose, a removable saw and a trailer that can be detached. It reminds me more of a firefighting unit you might see in a rural area, rather than a city. If your child is small, he or she may have trouble attaching some of the small pieces to the trailer, or placing them in the hands of the fireman that comes with this. Overall, it's a great little set.
But beware this unit will probably make your kid want more fire units. The new fire station out this year from Lego is a dandy, and this little unit will only add to the fun.

This set is GREAT! Although it has many (over 900!) pieces, the people at Lego have done their usual fantastic job of instructing with superb visuals to get it assembled. Lots of moving parts, and fun discoveries once it's together. Certainly for ages over three; this set is mostly small pieces. My overall rating is: Exceptional
After many bad experiences with revived classic toys (for example, the robot game), I was very pleased to find this set to be the high quality I remembered.
This is a toy the whole family can enjoy together on a rainy afternoon. My 2 year old and my 7 year old both enjoy this set (beware of small pieces for younger children) and how they can build huge things in seconds.
This encourage imaginative thinking, problem solving, and builds fine motor skills. Just make sure you get more than 1 set to release the creative possibilities.

My four year old son who seldom wants to work on a "project" will sit down with kid k'nex and spend a lot of time creating different vehicles. It can keep him busy for ages. It challenges his creativity and problem solvoing skills. I love to watch what he comes up with and how out an roadblocks.
